Beltane - Anode to Leviathan

Image
A ten song BM experience produced in 2011 by Xanataph and released through Satanica. Coming from New Zealand and writing music since 1994. In The Semetary, is the first track -good riffs decent production, I like the vocals, I can understand the lyrics without having to reach for a lyric sheet. On a Winter's night, much more BM style vocals take this one, a faster paced track. The Celtic Song (Nelsonian Black metal Chroncle) took me by surprise, clean acoustic guitar, easy lyrics content builds into an aggressive composition. Up the Hills, great drums begin this one, although I feel better production would have brought them to the front better, either way its good. Good guitars, nice arrangement patterns. Beltane have also released five previous full length albums which include Jera, Jera 2, Through Darker Seasons, Darkhovse, Auld Toby and current album in 2012 Democide, not even mentioning a slew of EPs in between, there is a library of music to explore. Back to this album, now on

The Black Coffins - Dead Sky Sepulchre

Image
Thirteen savage tracks starting with Dead Sky Burial, a haunting beginning leading into a murderous gut wrenching scream. "Chambers of Eternal Sleep", raw and powerful guitars, reminds me a bit like Agnostic Front early days. "Below The Roots" distorted bass along with punk style of rhythm on the drums, memorable riffs and verses. This band hails from Sao Paulo, this is their second full length album released through Black Hole Productions 2012. "Carve The Host", punk and hardcore influences mix with death metal is how they describe themselves and its very accurate, although I think they have their own sound developing. The album layout is appealing to me. Dark sepia format with very dark imagery including some awesome ink work for the cover. The production is pure and raw witch is perfect for the style being projected. "The Last Spectral Convoy", has to be my favorite track, like a ghost rising from deep slumber and stepping into the realm to to

Introducing Ash Jones - Alt. Model - Owner & Band Promotions at The Ladies of Metal B.NPHOTOS702 1- What inspired you to do modeling? Was there a point early in your life that sparked your interest? I had a few friends that were getting into photography, so I would offer to help with their projects whether it be just for fun or for their classes. 2- You have dark elements to your style, was there an event or moment that made you decide on your style? Well, I started getting tattooed at the age of 15, alternative modeling wasn't a big thing back then and progressively over the years it became more noticeable and the bigger it got the more i felt that that was where I belonged. B.NPHOTOS702 3- Name some of your favorite music or bands? The Ghost Inside will always be my #1, I actually have a tattoo with my all time favorite lyric of theirs that says "Some Hearts Never Break". The Acacia Strain. The Plot in You. Stray From The Path. Abaddon - Abaddon

Image
Heavy power metal band from Mexico. The band has been around since 1985 and this is their first full length. Previous release was a split in 1987, Escuadron Metalico (Proyecto Dos) in which they had one song. This album has ten tracks and is released through Last Warrior Records in 2010. Vocals are performed by Atenea and I must say she has an amazing vocal performance on this album. They label themselves power metal but I hear a thrash metal influence like early Thanatos or Iron Maiden killers. The lyrics are all in Spanish. The title track Abaddon has a cool start, fast drums raw guitar. Claro de Luna en Misa Negra reminds me a bit of early Megadeth in the beginning. Cuenta Final, fast pace track thrash metal influence is apparent on this one. Formas Del Mal, probably my favorite song on the album, the production on the drums could be better. there are many times where I heard the drums doing some amazing stuff but because of the production it did not come through as well as it shou

Blinded By Faith - Chernobyl Survivor

Image
Chernobyl Survivor is the latest album released by Canadian speed, death metal machine Blinded By Faith. The intensity hits me from the first few notes. The opening track immediately takes hold and delivers an introduction that tells your brain "these guys are brutal as fuck". The title track "Chernobyl Survivor" has some interesting vocals that remind me of early Exodus (Paul Baloff). There are vocal harmonies that distinguish them with an overall blend of high, mid, low and clean. You might think this is to much, but the band has figured out how to do it so that its balanced and in perfect doses. "So Speaks The Voice of Law" opening riff is great, the first verse kicks in and blows me away. I found myself digging this song and playing it loud on my stereo. "Dead End", guitars are blazing fast and precise, every riff slams. There is a high level of talent in the solos which I enjoy very much. "Stranger In The Mirror" Keyboards do an am
