HYPERION - Seraphical Euphony

Hyperion is a six piece band, members are Harry LauraĆ©us- Vocals. Erik Molnar - Guitars. Anders Peterson - Drums. Mikael Malm - Guitars. Joel Hagroth - Guitars. Raul Vicente - Bass. Music style is listed as, Metal / Black metal / Death metal. Band location, Stockholm.

Seraphical Euphony album released on Black Lion Productions February 22, 2016. This promo completely destroyed my senses. Its crushing on all levels. After spinning the entire album for the first time, I just kept coming back for more. Consider that I receive many promos every week, it becomes a rare thing for me to stay on a certain band for a time. With this release, I could not help but to keep it on replay.

Exploring all the dark manifestation presented to my ears. The album is a beast of sheer violence and raw brutality. The opening song comes in with relentless punishment. The music conceives images of certain doom and desolation. The nine tracks are cryptic and malevolent. This is a very well produced disc and raw black metal forged in the roots of the genre. Feeling the tentacles reaching for you from the dark abyss as the music captivates the thoughts.

The epic feeling is projected with magnificent power of the keyboard melodies. The song "Moral Evasion", is a perfect candidate for this, the intro sticks in my mind and the main riffs are just crushing and devastating. I can mention some bands as influence may be Pestilence, Belphegore, At The Gates, early Dimmu Borgir and Samael.

The entire album is an amazing journey of splendid melodic black metal. Although, I can listen to this album a million times, the song that brought me the most suspense and enjoyment would have to be "Blood Of The Ancients", it captures my mind with its clean guitar melodies and mixture of intense passages and depressive atmosphere. It is monumental.

In conclusion, albums like this don't come along very often, the sheer power and crafting of brutal and melodic arrangements is on a high level. The band is sure to cause huge waves through the underground as its unleashing has just begun. Do not pass this up and take a listen, you will not be dissapointed.

Mithridatic - Miserable Miracle

Mithridatic is a five piece band, members are Guitou - Vocals. Romain Sanchez - guitar. Alexandre Brosse - guitar lead. Remolow - Bass turbo. Kevin Paradis - Drums Ancien Membre Simon Digonnet - Drums (2007-2011). Music style is listed as, Death/Brutal Black Metal. Band location, Saint Etienne.

Miserable Miracle album to be released on Kaotoxin Records 11 March 2016. My first impression is, dark and menacing. Very good production, Heavy and precise drum sound, killer guitar tone for both rhythm and solo riffs. The band offers us nine devastating tracks full of energy and aggression punishing the senses every step of the way with primal execution. Some of the influences that maybe noted would be Vader, Immolation, Belphegore, Emperor and Behemoth. The massive waves of sonic madness coming through the speakers are highly impressive.

My favorite songs from this release would have to be "Funambule Penitent, this song combines grinds and complex arrangements and delivers a savage blow. "Hell Compasses Points", is probably my favorite from this entire album. Set this one on maximum volume and prepare to be destroyed.

In conclusion, one of the heaviest promos I have listen to for the month of March. If you want high violence and relentless battery, then this is the album for you.

Visions of the Night vs.ReMechanized - Industrial Military Complex

Visions of the Night vs.ReMechanized is a one man project by Wolvesblood: Guitar/Vocals live guest performances by Rob Urbinati (track 1) Warhead (tracks 4 and 8) Jenn Kilburn (track 2) Session drums intro track Todd Hansen. Music style is listed as, Death/Black military inspired metal. Band location, Canada.

Industrial Military Complex album self released on January 2 2016. My initial thoughts on this release are, destructive sounds centered on war themes. The industrial drum sound is persistent through out the majority of this album. Guitars have a low tuned raw distortion. The music is definitely rooted in black/death metal, but they do have dissonant and haunting overtures that bring it into another realm.

Some of the bands that may be noted as an influence would be, N17, Ministry, Gorefest, Brutal Truth and Fleshcrawl. The opening song "War Is Our Religion", comes in at high velocity. Aggressive and devastating in its delivery. The song sets the tone for the rest of the album and punishes the senses. "Written In Blood", is another strong contender. It starts with a mind bending intro then hits you with penetrating drums. "Assaulting Fortress", the feeling here is that of an invasion of epic proportions and there are no survivors. My last pick will be "Gorillas Withing the Midst", a slow and cryptic intro builds up intensity and completely pummels you by the time you reach the end.

Final thoughts, raw energy and huge waves of industrial tones are projected. If you want to listen to something with relentless battery and war induced themes, then this is the album for you.

Verment - Death's Domain

Verment is a four piece band made up of Dustin Stockhoff -Guitar. Alex Hooper -Drums/Vocals. Eric Payne -Bass/Vocals. Nick Moeller-Guitar. Music style is listed as, Death metal. Band location, Cincinnati, OH.

Death's Domain Ep to be self released on April 1st, 2016. My first thoughts are, excellent production and savage riffs are a recipe for maximum aggression. Presented here are seven potent compositions of pure and brutal d/m. I have to say that this is one of the heaviest promos I have reviewed for the month of March. Dual vocal attack, both high and low screams are well executed through out the entire album. A stomping bass tone provides a solid ground to lay down the gore. There is no shortage of violence and the music is going to crush your cranium.  Every track gets your blood boiling.

Some of the influence that might be noted would be bands like, Terrorizer, Death, Sinister, Malevolent Creation and Decapitated. Among my favorite songs from this release would be "Wings of Bone", savagery at a high level. "Obsolescence Reality", comes in with a short and haunting intro that leads us into certain death.

Final thoughts, the Ep absolutely slays. The band manages to set a frequent level of extreme sound. If you enjoy punishment dealt to you with a relentless attack, then this will be perfect for you.

Megascavenger - As Dystopia Beckons

Megascavenger is a two piece band made up of Rogga Johansson - Guitars, Bass, Vocals
Brynjar Helgetun - Drums and several guest featured. Music style is listed as, Death Metal.
Band location, Sweden.

As Dystopia Beckons album released on Selfmadegod Records March 1st  2016. My initial thoughts are, this release offers a wide variety of death metal and does it in the most brutal way. Pure punishment is delivered from the opening track. Each song creates its own characteristics and keeps the listener engaged to the music.

The first songs "Rotting Domain" features (Sven Gross of Fleshcrawl)
"The Machine That Turns Humans Into Slop" featuring (David Ingram of Hail of Bullets, Echelon, ex-Benediction, ex-Bolt Thrower) they are the heavy hitters. Definitely rooted in the brutal death spectrum. Very powerful and destructive. "As The Last Day Has Passed", is a different track, more on the melodic end, thinking of bands like early In Flames or At The Gates, well executed and energetic. "Dead Rotting And Exposed", this song brings some grinding beats and harsh guttural vocals. Very intense in its delivery and dishes out a good amount of octane. "Steel Through Flesh Extravaganza", now this track resembles and early Fear Factory feeling in its introduction, then morphs into a Ministry type of blast beat. The closing and title track is menacing and haunting, like a sci fi horror film unleashing mech robots into a dark void. It sets a dark atmosphere and is much different than the other compositions.

Final thoughts, this album is powerful, its many facets and sounds keep things interesting. The brutality and force are always there no matter what other elements are mixed in. A solid performance is delivered and the metal underground fans will not be disappointed.

VIRULENCY - The Anthropodermic Manuscript of Retribution

VIRULENCY is a four piece band made up of, DisJorge - Fretless Bass and Guitars
J. - Vocals. Fabio "Dr. Grinder" Ramirez - Drums. Asier Badiola - Guitars. Music style is listed as, Virulent Brutal Death metal. Band location, Basque Country / Madrid.

The Anthropodermic Manuscript of Retribution album released on New Standard Elite February 28th, 2016. The eye catching artwork reveals a towering beast straight out of some maniacal horror sci-fi film. Just one look and you can already start to imaging the great amount of brutality that is contained in this album.

The opening track delivers a smashing blow and sets the pace for relentless battery. This is a heavy and furious music that is sure to cause massive shockwaves in the underground community. The drums bring rapid and precise double kicks and complex rhythms of pure energy. If I may note some influences, I would say bands like Defeated Sanity, Devourment, Suffocation and Immolation. A good assortment of slam beats are also presented. The guttural vocals are intense and there is no shortage of aggression.

This is the bands first full length album. Fans have been waiting for this since the last released ep back in 2012 "Unbearable Martyrdom Landscapes". They had a short two song promo release in 2013. This a welcomed and anticipated album and it delivers maximum devastation.

Final thoughts, the music punishes the senses with unthinkable fury. After experiencing this album, you will probably be picking up fragments of your shattered skull caused from the power that resonates from the speakers.

Paroxsihzem - Abyss of Excruciating Vexes

Paroxsihzem is a three piece band consisting of, Impugnor (Guitar/Bass), Abyss (Drums), Krag   (Vocals). Music style is listed as, black/death metal. Band location, Toronto, Ontario.

Abyss of Excruciating Vexes MLP to be released on Vinyl/Digital March 2016 Hellthrasher Productions. A menacing album cover with equally destructive music to go along with its onslaught of blackened/brutal death metal. Imaging for a moment, tremendous beasts raising from a swirling pit of fire, that's how my vision seemed to go from the moment I hit that played button. Savage riffing with supreme blast beats and chaotic solos. The early death metal influence can also be felt, specially on the track "Isolation", reminiscent of Asphyx, Monstrosity and Sinister.

Brutal fans will love the absolute devastation coming from every single orifice of the compositions. While certainly not bringing innovation to the genre but keeping those roots alive and ravenous. This release gets straight to the point and brings a rapid attack of blistering metal that you will not survive.

Final thoughts, I enjoyed every song, the roots of the early years of brutal death metal are holding strong. If you are looking for raw and unprocessed music with a sharp edge, then look no further, check out this album.

Murder Made God - Enslaved

Murder Made God is a four piece band made up of, Vocals-George. Guitars-Dennis. Bass-Stelios. Drums-Tolis. Music style is listed as, tech death metal. Band location, Thessaloniki,Greece.

Enslaved album to be released on April 15th 2016 Comatose Music. Upon hitting the play button a vicious attack of pure and unforgiving intensity is quickly delivered and my face is melted. No time is wasted as the music unfolds. With no restraints it batters its unsuspecting listeners. All the characteristics of extreme metal are explore. Some influences that can be noted would be bands like, Vader, Krisium, Suffocation and Morbid Angel. A very good production and heavy performance is captured.

With this release the band offers us ten powerful songs of devastating nature. The title track is one of my favorites. Intense double kicks and demonic vocals. "Titan", is another big contender with high levels of aggression unfolding, is hard to resist the madness.

In conclusion, if you want technical, progressive, extreme metal with a distinct sharp edge, then look no further, this album is for you.

Atrocious Abnormality - Formed in Disgust

Atrocious Abnormality is a three piece band made up of, Steve Green - Guitar and vocals. James O'Neal - Bass. Brent Williams - Drums. Music style is listed as, Brutal Death Metal. Band location, Kings Mountain, NC.

Formed in Disgust album to be released on Comatose Music March 4th 2016. Heavy and crushing are the immediate thoughts. I ended up listening to this album to and from work. It definitely helped me de-stress on a day to day basis. This is like a giant slab of cement smacking you in the face. The furious charge spewing forward cannot be contained. The album is very potent and menacing force. Low tuned strings, guttural vocals, slamming bass lines and erupting drums seizes the mind and obliterate any hope of getting out alive. The opening song sample is that of earth dying and people are at their end, sounds interesting. Once the first track begins you know this is a mosh worthy phenom. I am reminded of bands like Devourment, Defeated Sanity and Cryptopsy. Complex riffing with super heavy tones assaulting the senses.

My top pics from this release would, "Erotic Tales of Disembowelment", "The Inevitable Undoing" and "Storm of Ash". This is a strong and destructive recording. A "take no prisoners" type of aggression. Technical and brutalizing waves of gore.

Final thoughts, an abrasive punishing experience that will leave you speechless. High levels of brutality are delivered and you will not be disappointed.

Castle Freak - Human Hive

Castle Freak is a four piece band made up of, Andrew Gigan-Guitar/Vocals. Zak Carter-Guitar. Ben Anft-Bass. Sebastian Phillips-Drums. Music style is listed as, Death Metal/Grindcore. Band location, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Human Hive EP to be self released on March 18th 2016. Let the slaughtering begin. Guts and blood everywhere. A tremendous display of raw brutality hits my ears. Reminds me of bands like Brutal Truth, Napalm Death, Death, Overkill and Mortician. Complete with horror movie samples. This EP is short, but packs a punch. Traces of thrash metal influence can be heard on most of the songs too. "Sickening Corpses" and "Human Hive", are among my favorites from this release. Like flurry of bullets, the music assaults with carnal frequency. A dedication to death and grind is expressed with guttural vocals and all the gore you can handle.

Final thoughts, it is a savage ep, full of toxic waste, zombies terror and violence. If you enjoy your metal served up with relentless punishment, then look no further and lend your ears to this beast.

Foul Body Autopsy - Perpetuated By Greed

Foul Body Autopsy is a one man band consisting of Tom - Guitar, Vox, Drum Programming.
Genre described as Blackened Death Grind. Band origin Leicester City.

Perpetuated By Greed album to be released on Grindscene Records / Comatose Music
26 February 2016. One of the things that struct me the most upon listening to this was the flurry of notes coming from the guitarist. This is some intense scale work with precise execution. By the time I realized it, I was already listening to the third song "Chewed up by The Machine", this song is just massively crushing and a relentless battery to the senses, reminds me of Dying Fetus or Obscura. I enjoy how quick the songs are are. Nothing is wasted. Catchy short riffs that deliver the intense feeling and leave you wanting more. "Devoid of Humanity" is another powerful song that hits you like a sledgehammer before you can even blink.

In conclusion, the entire album kicks ass. A fast and furious approach works really well. This is brutal death metal done right, without any filler, just a savage blow of intensity that leaves the listener wanting more.

Born Beneath album released on Inverse Records January 22nd 2016. This album does not waste anytime and gets directly to the intensity. No intros, just dives right in with brutality. A solid production with powerful drum sound, heavy distorted strings, low guttural vocals mixed with some highs from time to time. Some of the influences I hear in the music would be Beheaded, Six Feet Under, Brutal Truth, Death and Decapitated. While there is no new ground being explored, the music is energetic and the execution of punishing riffs will delight the majority of metalheads looking for some new tunes with an edge. Among my favorite would have to be "Born Beneath", the ending riff is sure to get your head moving and "Age of Decadence", strikes you like a punch to the gut, very aggressive delivery.

Mortuary - Nothingless Than Nothingness

Mortuary is a four piece band consisting of Jean-NoĆ«l Verbecq - Bass. Patrick Germonville - Vocals. Alexis Baudin - Guitars. Johann Voirin - Drums. Genre described as Death metal/thrash metal. Band origin France.

Nothingless Than Nothingness album released on Goregeous Productions January 18 2016. High levels of brutality is what this release brings to the table. Like a flurry of strong punches. This is what really good death metal should sound like. Punishing blast beats, hyper grinds, great distortion sound, solid bass tone and creative riffs that assault you from all directions. Shredding at max capacity, like in the track U-man Slept, K-os Crawled, the guitar solos rip. Another track worth mentioning is "K", it features a nice melodic interlude in the middle that is sure to please most ears. "Morbid Existence", is a crushing and devastating track obliterating everything in its path and assaulting the senses with fast blast beats. Think of bands like Pestilence, Morbid Angel, and Brutal Truth.

In conclusion, if you love death metal with a powerful attack and shredding solos, then this is the album to add to your collection.

Abatuar - Vejación de la Bestia/Fosa ComĆŗn

Abatuar is a death metal band consisting of Cadaver: Drums, Music, Vocals. I will assume it is a one man project from the promo sent to me. Genre described as death metal. Band origin Panama-Stadt.

Vejación de la Bestia/Fosa ComĆŗn album released on Dunkelheit Produktionen November 23, 2015. My first impression, a feeling of constant annihilation, malevolence and destruction. The production is gritty and bare boned. The compositions are certainly brutal. Unless you know spanish, you are out of luck as far as the lyrics are concerned. I can tell you that it is mainly death and devastation. One of my favorite songs from this release would be "Dispersal of Toxic cloud and Mustard Gas". Very cool and haunting intro that reminds me of a horror film, crazy screams and shivering explosions. The first track, Extermination of Humanity With Nerve Agent Sarin, the thing that stood out the most is the rapid fire attack of blast beats and heavy distorted guitars, a strong contender for this release.

My final thoughts, a resurrection of relics from the vowels of the underground, a feeling of despair and evil permeates in each song. If you love old school, rotten, bloody death metal, then look no further, this is where it is at.

Disrupted - Morbid Death

Disrupted is a three piece band consisting of Mikael Hanni - Vocals, Thomas Liljekvist - Guitars, Johan KvastegĆ„rd - Guitars. Genre described as Death Metal. Band origin Sweden.

Morbid Death album released on Momento Mori 2015. Indeed the heaviness coming from this release is supreme. Like a dragon breathing fire down your neck. You can't escape the furiosity expelled by these musicians. In terms of production, the quality is good. Solid drum attack and heavy distorted guitars. The early d/m influence is undeniable. We get ten tracks. Pure evil hymns with demonic vocals to please any die-hard. Some of my most memorable tracks would have to be, Behead the Dead, Funeral Creep and Rotten. Furious solos and grinding drums can be found in almost every song. Think of bands like Krisium, Sepultura and Gorguts.

In conclusion, songs with enough power to delight the old school fans and enough to shred the ears of the new generation of metal fans.

Escarnium - Godless Shrine Of Decay

Escarnium is a five piece band consisting of Victor Elian (Guitars/Vocals), MaurĆcio Souza (Guitars) , Vitor Giovanni (Bass), Nestor Carrera (Drums). Genre described as death metal. Band origin Salvador Brasil.

Godless Shrine Of Decay album released on Redefining Darkness Records November 20, 2015. Well, somehow I missed this one, but I found it digging through my email. Glad I searched, plus writing stuff down helps. The production on this release is excellent. The drums are solid and devastating. Heavy guitars and crushing vocals. The spirit of the old d/m lives here. The raw punishing riffs are clear and it is easy to find yourself headbanging from moment to moment. So much metal in one place, sixteen songs to be exact, you are bound to find something to like. Solos are catchy, fast and well thought out. The song Human Waste in particular has a memorable solo. The track "Excruciating Existence", is worthy of bringing walls down. The drum attack never lets up and you can feel the aggression in every riffs. Think of bands like Suffocation, Malevolent Creation, Immolation and Brutal Truth.

Suppressive Fire – Bedlam

Suppressive Fire is a three piece band consisting of  Joseph Bursey - Guitars. Aaron Schmidt Bass/vox. Brandon Smith - Drums. Genre described as Metal. Band origin Raleigh NC.

Bedlam album to be released on January 14, 2016. My first thoughts are, the opening track gives the feeling of preparing for battle. All guns blazing, no survivors style of metal. It is a rapid fire attack from the start. Good sounding guitar distortion and fluid solos can be heard in most of the compositions. Among my favorites would be "Bayonet Penetration", it contains catchy thrash metal driven riffs. Thinking of Overkill on high octane. "Pyrophoric Blood", is another track high on my list. The song will get your fist pumping, if you like to mosh then this track would most likely drag you into the mosh pit in a live concert environment. "Ironsights", ever wonder what the sound of flying bullets near you head might sound like? this song is close to it. A straight assault to the senses with perfect metal execution.

In conclusion, if you want to hear thrash/war metal with a sharp edge then look no further. A solid performance with enough fuel to burn the block down.

INSISION - Terminal Reckoning

INSISION is a five piece band consisting of - Vocals: Carl, Guitar: Rogga, Guitar: Adam, Drums: Ibrahim, Bass: Gustav. Genre described as Death Metal. Band origin Stockholm.

Terminal Reckoning album to be released on Sevared Records December/January 2015/16. First thoughts, the opening track did not immediately catch my attention, but when "Ominous Spiral", the second track begin to play, it was full speed ahead. Like getting punched in the face. My adrenaline started to flow. Once "Infected" came in the levels of brutality are turned up past ten, like a sledge hammer hitting me. Some of the bands that seemed to have an influence would be Decapitated, Morbid Angel, Suffocation and Demolition Hammer most notable.

This album is straight forward extreme death metal that does not hold back. If you like raw and powerful riffs, then this is one to add to your collection. The guitar tones are heavy distorted and the vocals just blow me away. Very guttural and penetrating. If your fist are not pumping by the time you reach the end of this album, then extreme music might not be for you.

In conclusion, the band shows relentless punishment with heaviness. Never a dull moment. Crushing vocals and killer drum attack. An album not to be missed.

Austerymn - Sepulcrum Viventium

Austerymn is a four piece band consisting of Rik Simpson - vocals, Guitar, Steve Critchley - Bass, vocals. Stu Makin - Lead Guitar, Nikk Perros - Drums. Genre described as Death Metal. Band origin St Helens, Wigan, Athens.

Sepulcrum Viventium album released on April 2015 on Memento Mori Records. My first impression, an intense powerful ride. The band manages to capture the early roots of the death metal genre. Demonic vocals, heavy guitar tones, devastating double kicks. Songs like "Written In Scars", have an impact that is hard to dismiss. Fast attack, memorable verses similar to those found in early Monstrosity albums. Other bands that come to mind that show heavy influence would be Grave, Suffocation, At The Gates and others from that time frame. I also enjoy the solos, they are well thought out and not overdone. Darkness Burns Forever, is one of my favorites from this release. Sonic perfection and an excellent tune to get into. The song "Dead" is another strong contender. It is relentless brutality and I ended up putting this on repeat on many occasions.

Overall, this album is a beast. You will not be disappointed. If you like extreme death metal with old school themes, then this is the album for you.

Cryptopsy -The Book of Suffering Tome 1

Cryptopsy is a four piece band consisting of; Flo Mounier: Drums/Vocals, Chris Donaldson: Guitar, Matt McGachy: Lead Vocals, Olivier Pinard: Bass Guitar. Genre described as Extreme Technical Death Metal. Band origin MontrĆ©al, QuĆ©bec.

The Book of Suffering Tome 1 EP self released on October 30th 2015. My first thoughts, this new EP rips your skin apart, no doubt about it. A bit of history, back in 1994 when the first album Blasphemy Made Flesh reached my hands, I became an instant fan. I would play the shit out of it every chance I got. Then came "None So Vile", and it completely blew my mind. To be completely honest here, I stop listening to the band after those two albums, no real specific reason, I think that those two albums were plenty for me. I might have heard a song or two from the albums in between but nothing that really stayed with me.

Fast forward to May 2015. I got an opportunity to see Cryptopsy live in concert. What an impressive set they played that night. The music was technical, fast, aggressive and just destroyed everything in its path. I felt just like I did back in the late 90s. This brand new EP touches back to those times. The raw brutality and complex arrangements that initially grabbed my attention are all represented here, but with an edge, a razor sharp edge. Creepy samples into blistering blast beats. I have always been a big fan of Lord Worm (Dan Greening) and I never really thought anyone could fill those shoes, but after seeing Matt McGachy live performance and listening to this recording I can say he fills those shoes and then some. The superior technical guitar work is crushing to say the least. Powerful rhythms and fast scale work. Olivier Pinard does a great job keeping all the madness ongoing with a killer bass tone and complimenting all those arrangements with perfect precision. The drumming is tight, with fast double kicks and interesting drum rolls at every turn. My only disappointment would be that it all ends quickly, at only four tracks. By far, all the songs kick ass but my favorite would have to be "Framed By Blood", it reminds me of all those tracks from the Blasphemy album. The vocals are insanely high and those lows are hard enough to punch you in the throat.

In conclusion, the band continues to set the bar even higher with this release. Fans of their earlier work will want to lend their ears to this EP. For the new comers, they will be completely devastated by their brutality.
