Castle Freak - Human Hive
Castle Freak is a four piece band made up of, Andrew Gigan-Guitar/Vocals. Zak Carter-Guitar. Ben Anft-Bass. Sebastian Phillips-Drums. Music style is listed as, Death Metal/Grindcore. Band location, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Human Hive EP to be self released on March 18th 2016. Let the slaughtering begin. Guts and blood everywhere. A tremendous display of raw brutality hits my ears. Reminds me of bands like Brutal Truth, Napalm Death, Death, Overkill and Mortician. Complete with horror movie samples. This EP is short, but packs a punch. Traces of thrash metal influence can be heard on most of the songs too. "Sickening Corpses" and "Human Hive", are among my favorites from this release. Like flurry of bullets, the music assaults with carnal frequency. A dedication to death and grind is expressed with guttural vocals and all the gore you can handle.
Final thoughts, it is a savage ep, full of toxic waste, zombies terror and violence. If you enjoy your metal served up with relentless punishment, then look no further and lend your ears to this beast.

Foul Body Autopsy - Perpetuated By Greed
Foul Body Autopsy is a one man band consisting of Tom - Guitar, Vox, Drum Programming.
Genre described as Blackened Death Grind. Band origin Leicester City.
Perpetuated By Greed album to be released on Grindscene Records / Comatose Music
26 February 2016. One of the things that struct me the most upon listening to this was the flurry of notes coming from the guitarist. This is some intense scale work with precise execution. By the time I realized it, I was already listening to the third song "Chewed up by The Machine", this song is just massively crushing and a relentless battery to the senses, reminds me of Dying Fetus or Obscura. I enjoy how quick the songs are are. Nothing is wasted. Catchy short riffs that deliver the intense feeling and leave you wanting more. "Devoid of Humanity" is another powerful song that hits you like a sledgehammer before you can even blink.
In conclusion, the entire album kicks ass. A fast and furious approach works really well. This is brutal death metal done right, without any filler, just a savage blow of intensity that leaves the listener wanting more.

Serrabulho - Star Whores
Serrabulho is a four piece band consisting of Guerra - vocals; Paulo - guitars, vocals; Guilhermino - bass, vocals; Ivan - drums. Genre described as Happy Death Grind. Band origin Vila Real, Portugal.
Star Whores album released on Rotten Roll Rex July 13, 2015. So, this was certainly a pleasant surprise. When I hit the play button the crazy fun filled ride began. The main theme here is fun, satire and ridiculous entertainment. Songs like "Pornocchio" and "Buttman" paint a good visual as to what you are about to encounter in the album. In terms of production, everything sounds really good. Crunchy distorted guitar, punchy bass lines and fast grinds on the drums. Crazy samples and gore galore. My favorite sample would have to be for the intro in "Buttman", it is hysterical, I found myself laughing upon first listening to it. Many catchy choruses, pig squeel vocals and madness all around. Think of bands like Gwar, Maggot Twat, Sexual Atrocities and SikFuk and it is similar in good dirty rotting fun. One of my favorite songs from this album would have to be "Happy Fornication", I listen to this one several times, it is funny and entertaining like no other. It has to be heard to believe. The level of mania contain within these tracks is at a high level.
In conclusion, this is a great album to listen to, it does not take itself seriously at all. The music is fast, brutal and grinding but it definitely puts a smile on your face when you get involved with the lyric content. Fans of Anal Cunt, Sexual Atrocities, Putrid Pile, General Surgery and Haemorrhage will certainly want to add this to their collection.

Grunt (UK) - 'Codex Bizarre'
Grunt is a three piece band consisting of Boy-D - Drums and Vocals, Boy-G - Guitars, Keyboards and Vocals, Boy-Z - Bass and Electronics. Genre described as Grind. Band origin Liverpool, United Kingdom.
Codex Bizarre album released on Bizarre Leprous Productions August 24 2015. I was not sure what to expect upon looking at the album cover and researching the band. Latex and grind, interesting combo. Keeping an open mind and letting my ears explore all aspect of underground music, I gave this one a spin. First of all, the production is very good, killer sounding drums, heavy guitars and stomping bass lines. Electronic samples that make you think of industrial music, but it is kept to a reasonable amount and done in a way that fits the level of brutality being projected. Grind is the main ingredient here and they deal it out in massive doses. The guitar player and drummer both handle the vocals, high and low trade off. The lyrics as you might aspect will leave you feeling a bit dirty. S&M, chains, whips, latex and domination. Songs like The Edge Play, Vassalage Grotesque and Teratoid Latex Feudalist are among the stand out tracks.
In conclusion, punishing in every sense of the word. If you are into S&M, latex and grind then this is the band to fit all those needs. The music combines grind brutality and Electronic sampling in a way that I had not heard before, which makes this album worth checking out. ~Artemortifica

Police State - Mind Collapse
Police State is a four piece band consisting of, Vox- Cole, Bass- KC, Guitar- Paul, Drums- Tyler. Genre described as Power-violence, grind and crust. Band origin; York, PA
Mind Collapse album to be released on Grimoire Records November 6th 2015. The heart of rebellion and anarchy can be heard in each song. Fast aggressive guitar riffs along with grinding/punk rock style of drumming. You can tell by the album cover they are anti-political and based on the FB banner "Fuck your War, Fuck your Borders, We Won't Follow your Fucking Orders", I like it, we need more bands like this.
The production is raw and to the bone. Of the ten tracks contain in this release, the songs that stood out the most to me would have to be, Resolution, Pure Filth and Karma. If you are looking for pure aggression with a message to the mainstream to "fuck off" then look no further. This band delivers a punch and kick to the brain. Any grind heads out there are sure to put this one on for several spins.
In conclusion, I enjoy the raw gritty nature of the compositions, anarchy and complete chaos is the main recepy and what's not to love about that. ~Artemortifica

Nervous Impulse - Time to Panic
Nervous Impulse is a five piece death/grind band from Canada. Members are; Vocals-Éric Fiset, Guitars-Bruno Mercier, Guitars-Francis Cousineau, Drums-Yan Chamberland, Bass-Félix Bourcier
Time to Panic album released on February 15th, 2015, Blasthead Records. Expect to be punished and crushed from the moment you hit play. High levels of aggression is what I expected and the band delivered the goods. Good production quality. Heavy distorted guitars, blast beats and guttural vox are part of the recipe. Thinking of bands like Brutal Truth, early Cryptopsy, Terrorizer, Napalm Death, Pig Destroyer and others in the same vein of grind madness. There is a lot of songs contained in the opus, fifteen tracks to be exact. I enjoyed killing my ears through each one but some of my favorites would have to be, Eclipse of Personality, The Neighbor's House is on Fire and Prorogued Democracy.
In conclusion, shredding riffs, engaging lyric content and devastating drums. Fans of extreme brutal grind should add this one to their collection. ~Artemortifica

Love all the Pigs album released on October 14th 2014, Bizarre Leprous Productions. Here we have a no rules all out maniacal album. Pure gore and fun in every single track. Titles like, "My dick is out of control", "Septic tank blues" and "Piss on me" will give you a good idea of the madness within. Production is very solid, good guitar distortion and crushing drum sound. If you are easily offended then this might not be for you. If you like your grind disgusting and unadulterated then continue listening. The short samples in the tracks add certain texture and with a well image of what to come. "I Cum Acid and Vag are good candidates for this. Think of the most vile porn and multiply by ten.

Dephosphorus/Haapoja Collaboration LP
Dephosphorus/Haapoja are two bands. Dephosphorous consisting of Thanos Mantas - guitars, bass. John Votsis - drums, Panos Agoros - vocals. Genre described as Astrogrind. From Athens. Haapoja consisting of Jyri Kuukasjärvi - Vocals, Pekka Kivelä - Guitar, Tuomas Ojala - Drums, Eero Kurkinen - Bass. Hometown Oulo.
Collaboration LP Released: 12 February 2015, Handshake Inc/7 Degrees Records/Nerve Altar. After listening to this LP for a very long time on my head set, it finally started to grow on me. At first it all sounded very chaotic and did not make much sense. My views have changed. The music delivers a certain heaviness while staying of the standard composition notes. Its a good blend of grind, thrash/black metal, punk and spacial melodies. Haapoja, Pakon Sanelema and Minä Olen Herra are among my favorite songs, fast, furious and relentless. Dephosphorus music is laced with punk rock riffs and aggressive passages, Extract The Soul and Shades Of Reality would be the most stand out songs from this split.
In conclusion, a refreshing listening experience. Both bands deliver a chaotic and aggressive music that will resonate with fans of both metal/grindcore and punk rock.

The Kill - Kill Them All
The Kill is a three piece band consisting of, Jay - Blastasfuk. Roby - Axe. Nik - Abuse
Genre described as Grindcore. Band origin Melbourne, Australia
Kill Them All album released on January 3rd, 2015 Blastasfuk Records. Raw and destructive sounds. The songs are fast and will punch you straight in the face. The album features nineteen tracks and they go by quickly. Some of the stand out tracks for me would have to be Into the Drink, Lunch in QLD, Heavy Metal Professional and Smooth and Shiny. In terms of the production, this is one solid record, heavy guitar tones, destructive bass sound and crushing drums. There are also a couple of covers, The Pulsating Feast... (Regurgitate cover) and Metal Thrashing Mad (Anthrax cover). You can also hear thrash metal type riffs along with all the grind. Many of the compositions never even reach two minutes. The longest one would be the opening track Insults which is close to three minutes long.
In conclusion, don't let this one pass your radar. Catchy and speedy riffs are worth checking out. I recommended for fans of Brutal Truth, Phobia and Nasum.

Unrest - Grindcore
Unrest is a three piece band consisting of Brooks Wilson, Chris Grigg, Steve Jansson. Genre described as Grindcore. Band origin Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Grindcore album released on March 24, 2015 through Unspeakable Axe Records. It has been several weeks now since I began to explore this release. The brutality levels are set to maximum. The speed and sheer adrenaline of their music is evident in each and every song. If you blink once you might miss a few. Songs like, You Take, Consumption and Protest Culture are among my favorites. In terms of production, the quality is very good. Heavy crunchy guitar tones and solid drum sound comes across very devastating. The lyrics are anti corporation and social unrest which fit perfect with the style being projected. False Brotherhood, Identity in the Internet Age and Protest Culture touch on those issues. If anyone wonders about the title of the album it is a safe bet to say they deliver just that "Grindcore".
In conclusion, an intense and crushing ride. No dull moments and the album lives up to its title. Recommended for fans of Braindrill, Brutal Truth, Phobia, Agnostic Front and Degenerhate.

Kneel Before None - Carnal Disfigurement
Kneel Before None is a four piece band from Burns, TN. Members are, Jonathan Edwards-Vocals, Jake Davis-Guitar, Drew Owen-Guitar, David Smotherman-Bass, Ryan Warf-Drums. Genre described as death metal.
Carnal Disfigurement album self released on September 30th 2014. The album contains eleven tracks. My first thoughts, brutal and completely devastating. After a short and eerie intro, the music comes in with relentless fury. A mix of high and low demonic vocals come through the speakers and are fitting with all the gore that is being projected. Not just grinds and heaviness, there is a good amount of technicality and melody which can be heard on tracks like Cannibalistic Abduction, A Disgorged Existence and Zombies Don't Say #YOLO. The production on the album is really good. Drums are intense and powerful, guitars have great distortion on both rhythm and solos. Bass is powerful and dominant. Some of the stand out tracks for me would have to be "Nyctophilia", I really like the pummeling double bass kicks. "Disembodied Provocation", memorable passages and strong blast beats are relentless and crushing. "Tangled, Strangled, Mangled ", catchy title and its intense delivery is enough to get your blood pumping.
In conclusion, this is an energetic and crushing debut album. Catchy chord progressions and brutalizing vocals. Fans of Devourment, Dying Fetus, Aborted, Decapitated and Immolation would surely want to explore this album. ~Artemotifica

Degenerhate - Chronicles Of The Apocalypse
Degenerhate is a five piece band from Italy. Members are, Gianluca Lucarini: lead guitar-screaming/backing vocals, Marco Paparella: bass guitar, Renato Lucandri: vocals/grunts, Stuart Franzoni: drums, Angelo Vernati: rhythm guitar. Genre described as Grindcore.
Chronicles Of The Apocalypse album released on Sliptrick Records 2014. This album contains nineteen songs, my first impression, like a battering ram to the face. Extreme aggression comes purring through my speakers from the moment I hit the play button. Blistering grind/blast beats and raw guitar riffing coupled with low/high vocals will make your skin fall off. The songs are short but they deliver a punishing blow. Grind is the name of the game and that's exactly what they deliver. In terms of production, the quality is very good. The drums are solid and guitars had killer distortion along with a heavy bass tone to fill the ground level. It makes the walls crumble.
There's a couple of samples like on the tracks Earth First and Fur is Dead which deal with extinction and are fitting for the songs. Among the tracks I enjoyed the most are "Another You Another", I liked the chorus and it is slightly slower the the previous songs. "New World Disorder", crushing guitar rhythms and grinding blast make this one to mosh to. "Running Through the Blood", although somewhat different as far as production, like it was recorded at at different time. It has memorable passages and intense drums.
Final thoughts, the music will crush your senses, delivering and intense ride without any dull moments. Fans of Brutal Truth, Unrest, Cretin, old Napalm Death, and Terrorizer will want to add this one to their collection. ~Artemortifica

UNREST Debut New Track on Apoch's metal review
Philadelphia/Brooklyn grinders UNREST have debuted new track "Quit" from upcoming album Grindcore. Check out the exclusive stream and an interview with the band at apochs-unrest
Grindcore will be released on Unspeakable Axe Records March 24.
If the band name doesn't spell it out for you, the album title surely will. This is nothing but grindcore - stripped down, unpretentious, and loud. At the same time, it's much more than that. UNREST is comprised of craftsmen from bands both familiar (WOE, TRENCHROT and those about to be (Dark Descent's up-and-coming doom act, CRYPT SERMON). The riff and song construction throughout this debut album is right in line from what you'd expect from a group of such capable veterans. They wear their NASUM (and by proxy, NAPALM DEATH) influence on their sleeves, but through sheer mastery of the craft elevate the material well beyond a mere tribute to old masters.

Flesh Disgorged – A Pulchritudinous Macabre
Flesh Disgorged is a five piece band from Singapore. Members include Salim - Vocals, Za - Guitar(RIP), Shah - Guitar, Farrid - Bass, Faizal - Drum. Genre is described as Groincore.
A Pulchritudinous Macabre full album released on July 2014 under Bizarre Leprous Production.
A good production quality. Raw distorted guitars, solid bass sound. Grinding drums with clear cymbals and good balance in the mix. Vocals are low guttural and mid range in certain spots.
The album is thirteen tracks of gore and horror galore. Fast intense riffing with the standard template of horror movie sample into crushing dirty song structures. As grind goes thats pretty much what you expect. A strong delivery with the vocals which is fitting with the content. Songs like Exenteration of the Rectal Carcinoma, Erectile Disfunction of the Blue Balls Effect, Abattoir's Choice of Dismemberment and Sweet Flesh Solder, you get the idea of the gritty madness contained in this gem.
Think of bands like Gorgasm, Cannibal Corpse, Avulsed and others from that genre. I enjoyed listening to this entire madness. One of my favorite tracks would be No, No, No, -and yes thats the title, not sure what movie the sample is from but its awesome, I banged my head to this track many times, its intense.
In conclusion, a great debut album, if you like butchery, extremities and horror then you would want to add this one to your collection. ~Artemortifica

Cuff - Transient Suffering Through the Ergosphere
Cuff is a two member project from Oshawa, Ontario. Members are Bob Shaw - Vocals & Samples, Zach Smith - All Music. genre is described as Sci-fi Slam grind.
Transient Suffering Through the Ergosphere released on Nov. 18 2014 under Gore House Productions.
In terms of production, its a solid slab of brutality, strong guitar tones both in level and balance, bass is punchy and upfront. Good drum sound and vocals are extremely guttural, dirty and sludgy and fit the content perfectly. Lots of sci-fi samples and horror screams galore.
Think of those rare horror movies like Creepezoid, Night of The Comet, Nightbreed and add a bunch of cannibal raving aliens and you might come close to what is being projected by the music. I enjoyed the entire album but some of the more stand out songs to me would have to be Through the Ergosphere, it reminds a bit of the film From Beyond, when that monster thing first appears in the room with slime and shit falling from it, the opening to this song reminds me of the that, its followed by some slamming riffs that makes me just what to punch everything in sight, there are also some cool solos to experience in this song too. Transfusion of Bodily Fluids, for its eerie and catchy clean guitar lines, spine trembling and disgusting but in a good way. Breeding Diverse Entities, a great name, as if Godzilla was mating with a UFO and making twisted inbreds, well, at least that's what the intro sounds like to me. Gorging on the Sacred Carrion, deep low vocals start this one and there are some catchy verse riffs. I also enjoy the double bass kicks on this song. Not sure how the vocalist sings that low but it sounds great with the music. In conclusion, a pure slab of raw brutality in all its devastation. Fans of gore, horror, sci-fi and slam grind metal will want to add this one to their collection. ~Artemortifica
