Demonstealer - This Burden Is Mine

The Demonstealer is a one man band, comprised of Demonstealer (Sahil Makhija) also happens to be host of Headbanger's Kitchen, an online cooking show where he cooks food and interviews members of other metal bands. Album line up is listed as Demonstealer - Vocals/Guitars/Keys. Ashwin Shriyan - Bass. George Kollias - Drums. Music style is listed as, Metal. Band location, Mumbai.

This Burden is Mine album to be self released on March 25th 2016. My first impression is, extreme and melodic. First of, the production is great. Clean and well produced. From the clean melodies to the heavy guitars and intense drum sound, the album is tight.

With this release comes nine tracks of high energy and intense metal with memorable solos and expressive soundscapes. Although my ears were absolutely glued the entire time from the moment I hit the play button. The track that really captured my attention the most would have to be the title track "This Burden is Mine", its intro grabs my interest right away,  a clean melody that is catchy and well arranged. It leads into a fast and crunching riff with devastating double kicks and memorable chorus line. Another song that is high on my list is "Where Worlds End", some excellent solo work and the singing is done properly and I am amazed as to how good it all comes together. Thinking of bands like Dream Theater, In Flames, At The Gates and Strapping Young Lad. I also have to mention the album cover, like a monument to a certain struggle, a statue lifting a huge rock underneath an aggressive storm. It is very fitting to the contents of the album. Refreshing to see something that's not gore oriented and more conductive to a life experience.

In conclusion, this release is sure to make waves. Top noth production. Every song holds its own characteristics and you can find many layers of exploration within each arrangement. I recommend it for fans of both extreme and melodic metal, you will not be disappointed.

Among The Prey - Only For The Blinded Eyes

Among The Prey is a four piece band made up of, Iiro Kuntsi - vocals and guitar. Atte Palokangas - drums. Joni Laine - guitar. Toni Keskinen - bass. Music style is listed as, melodic death metal. Band location, Finland.

Only For The Blinded Eyes album to be released on Inverse Records February 19 2016. My initial thoughts are, high energy and engaging riffs. A solid slab of pure brutality. Compositions that deliver a massive blow. A total on nine tracks. Great production, heavy distorted guitars and strong drum sound. At times reminding me of At the Gates, The Haunted, Mastodon and Lamb of God. The songs that stood out the most from this release would be "Pieces" and Wake Up", in Wake up I really enjoy the hammer-on pull-off arrangement, its memorable and adds a certain dynamic to the song. It is a track that will make you want to clench your fist and come out swinging.

Final thoughts, a savage and intense album. Metal that comes at you at a hundred miles per hour and obliterates your senses. if you enjoy bands like Chimera and Lamb of God, then you will most certainly enjoy this release.

Destroyers Of All - Bleak Fragments

Destroyers Of All is a five piece band consisting of João Mateus (Vocals), Alexandre Correia (Guitar), Guilherme Busato (Guitar), Bruno da Silva (Bass), Filipe Gomes (Drums). Genre described as Thrash/Death/Progressive Metal. Band origin Portugal.

Bleak Fragments album to be released on 18 March 2016 Mosher Records. The first thing that grabbed my attention was the dual guitar parts. Complex and well executed. The solos rip. Fast, melodic and intense. A great production, powerful drums, heavy bass tone and heavy guitar distortion. There is also some epic keyboard parts. For example, in the track "Hollow Words", you can hear some epic keys that are reminiscent of Fleshgod Apocalypse or Children Of Bodom. The band also does creative transitions from fast and brutal to melodic without much effort. You can hear some interesting change ups in the song "Hate Through Violence", not the best title but the music works perfectly and offers a variety of elaborate song structures reminding me of the band Death. Another  strong contender that should be mentioned is the title track "Bleak Fragments", many complicated arrangements hit the senses but are catchy and memorable. The bass player does a lot of intense riffing too, which is awesome to hear on an album. It adds an extra dimension to all the maniacal progressions we hear in this opus.

In conclusion, if you like your metal progressive, melodic with many twist and turns, then this is the album for you.

Deathless Legacy - The Gathering

Deathless Legacy is a seven piece band consisting of Steva la cinghiala - Vocals and Performances. Frater Orion (The Necromancer) - Drums and scenographies. El "Calàver" - Guitar, C-AG1318 (The Cyborg) - Bass and vocals, Alex van Eden (Alessio Lucatti) - Keyboard The Red Witch - Performances. Genre described as Horror Metal. Band origin Babylon.

The Gathering album to be released on Scarlet Records February 26 2016. My first thoughts, an epic and adventurous trip. Some of the bands that come to mind as I listen would be Dream Theater, Queensryche, Caelestia and Blacklands. There is a good amount of harmony trade offs between keyboards and guitars which sound complex and well structured. The vocals cover a wide range of the octave scale and are a highlight through out this album. In total, the band offers us eleven songs. Some of my favorites would have to be "The Dove Has Died", it is a catchy and enchanting composition with memorable choruses and melodic guitar passages. "Smash Your Idols", is another strong contender. Heavy distortion on the guitars and really gets the blood pumping. It is a solid metal song and worth spinning several times.

In conclusion, this is an exciting album, full of energy and powerful hymns. If you like bands like Dream Theater and Caelestia, then you will definitely want to add this one to your collection.

Sunless Rise - Unrevealed

Sunless Rise is a five piece band consisting of Kirill Ershov – Vocal, Alex Becker – Guitar, Sergey Shulzhenko – Keyboards, Evgeniy Kasitsyn – Bass, Alexey Mallovsky – Drums. Genre described as Technical Melodic Metal. Band origin, Russia

Unrevealed album self released on November 30, 2015. My first impression, these are highly involved musicians. The music on this release sounds very progressive and melodic right from the start. Complex arrangements and elaborate compositions can be heard between the guitars and keyboards. Sometimes, it reminded me of Dream Theater. The song "Awakening", is a good example of trading  passages from keys to guitar. The melodies come at you lightning fast with superior double kicks powering the main rhythms. Personally, when bands add to many scales and progressions, it could be a bit much for novice listeners, however on this album the band does it just enough to keep things interesting while maintaining the groove of the songs. There is also a good amount of clean vocals and I think some people may or may like it but, I think it fits perfectly and compliments the music in a good way. Not to fear, they also have some great low guttural death metal vocals too, to round out the album and give it some balance. The track "Recovering The Truth", is a good example of both style presented in a devastating manner.

In conclusion, the album has much to offer for both melodic progressive fans as well as those who enjoy a more brutal approach to their music. All the songs are powerful and pack many elements of the metal styles for everyone to enjoy.

Caelestia - Beneath Abyss

Caelestia is a six piece band consisting of  Nikos Palivos - Bass, Panos Varvaropoulos - Guitars, Dimitra Vintsou -Vocals, Vassilis Thomas - Guitars, Aranel - Bass, Vangelis Evangelou - Guitars. Genre described as progressive, symphonic extreme metal. Band origin, Athens.

Beneath Abyss album released on Inverse Records February 16th, 2015. The melodies and progressive riffs coming from this release are epic. The production is top notch. I would say one of my favorite things from this album are the powerful vocals coming from Dimitra Vintsou, she has incredible range and is able to captivate my senses in nearly every song. Beyond the melodies, you can hear some heavy and crushing passages as well. For example the track "Secret Rite" (feat Markus Freiwald - SODOM) is a powerful and memorable tune with excellent solos and devastating drums. "Lake of Decay" is another song I ended up playing several times. "The Grand Sublimation", has a haunting intro and builds into a sonic adventure worthy of a mid-evil film.

In conclusion, if your looking for intense and devastating metal with captive melodies and epic feelings, then look no further, fans of In Flames, At The Gates, Nightwish, Dissection and Paradise Lost will want to add this to their collection.

Islay - Angels' Share

Islay is a five piece band consisting of, Tommy - Guitars, Synth, Lemmi - Drums, Chicken - Vocals, Baal - Guitars, Picco - Bass. Genre described as Death Metal. Band origin Emsland.

Angels' Share album released on Final Gate Records September 15 2015. The band name did not immediately strike me as something heavy, I was completely wrong. The music is brutal and melodic. You hear a wide range of vocalization from low guttural to pig squeels along with a few goregrind style of grunts and screams like in the song "Instinct". Take tracks like Self Adulation, just crushing right from the start. Relentless battery and killer low/high vocalization that leads into some memorable melodies, very well executed. But my favorite song from this entire album would have to be,"Havok and Decay", I ended up jammin this song several times on my way to and from work. Very catchy rhythms and verses. Some of the parts featuring guitars harmonies are well constructed and stay in my head even after the song is over.

In conclusion, there is something to enjoy in every song. Catchy arrangements and memorable melodies will keep you coming back for more. ~Artemortifica

The Hudson Horror - Nemesis

The Hudson Horror is a four piece band consisting of Dan Kelly (Vox), Marcus Hedwig (Guitars), Tyreek Jackson ( Bass), and Anne Buchwald (Drums). Genre described as Melodic death metal. Band origin New York.

Nemesis self-Released album on 15 September 2015. First thoughts, complex and catchy material. The band definitely raise levels of aggression while maintaining progressive passages. The title track Nemesis is a good example of those elements. The song leads you in with a moderate eerie build up them creates dissonant rhythms that are very memorable. I would have to say one of my favorite tracks is Heretic, this song makes you want to stand up and punch walls, indeed powerful riffs and aggressive vocals are crushing, while the double kick work pummels the senses. Wolf's Blood is an interesting track, slightly different than the rest, it contains more of a mid pace style of riffing and catchy choruses.

In conclusion, the band can project aggression while creating progressive and at times technical music. The album is worth exploring and I recommended for all metal fans.

Fjorsvartnir - Mzoraxc' Forbandelse

Fjorsvartnir is Danish Melodic Black Metal project by Fjorgynn - Rhytm/lead Guitar, bas, vocals, keyboard programming, composer, mix/master/sound engineer. Live session musicians are Fjorgynn - Lead/rhytm guitar & vocal , Helgarm - Lead/rhytm/ guitar , Arent - Drums, Onslaughter - Keyboard -

Mzoraxc' Forbandelse album released on Grom Records August 1, 2015. I spent a considerable amount time listening to this album. This is a deep exploration of dark passages and journeys. Every song holds its on characteristics and I ended up enjoying every single note. The compositions exhibit acoustic guitars and cryptic keyboard elements that are all arranged elegantly. The vocals are traditional black metal style with some spoken word and occasionally female vocals joining in, like on the track Krigssat. Honestly, this is one of those albums I can listen to from beginning to end and not get tired of it. If I had to pick favorites, it would have to be Riget, for its simple yet very effective melody that is very enchanting and Valkyrie, the opening to this track is just mesmerizing to my ears and the female vocals haunting. A great build up and all around killer song to jam to.

Final thoughts, I will be adding this one to my collection. This is a dark and sonic adventure to be investigated by people. The enchanting trips the music creates are pleasing to the ears. Melodic Black metal fans are sure to enjoy this but, I recommended to all metal fans as there is something to enjoy here for everyone. ~Artemortifica

Hypermass - Clouded Visions EP

Hypermass is a five piece death metal band from Trondheim, featuring members Markus Sundet - Vocals, Sindre Dagestad - Guitar, Thomas Pedersen - Guitar, Marius Grindflek - Bass, Brage Kråbøl - Drums.

Clouded Visions EP Self-Released 1 September 2015. The album draws me in from the opening track. The music builds from melodic to progressive effortlessly. The guitar arrangements are well thought out and catchy to my ears. Reminiscent to bands At The Gates, Revocation, Bloodshot Dawn, Gojira and Dissection. The group manages to blend several aspects of death metal and making sound cohesive. I normally would name a couple of stand out tracks but to be honest I enjoy the entire album. Every songs hold its own characteristic and its worth spinning several times.

In conclusion, the production quality is awesome, these are highly skilled musicians and this release reflects those talents. ~Artemortifica
