Beldam album Pasung is streaming now!

Pasung is BELDAM's second release on Horror Pain Gore Death Productions and their first with new vocalist/lyricist Randall Guidry. The band recently relocated to Seattle, continuing their vision to play skull-crushing, soul-wrenching, paint-peeling Sludge with blackened touches. With influences ranging from Sleep, EyeHateGod, Graves At Sea, The Melvins and Black Sabbath, BELDAM combines a massive wall of guitars, thickened bass tones, bone-rattling drums and harsh vocals featuring lyrics building on the themes of death and despair. Pasung clocks in at 50 minutes of pure, unadulterated American Sludge.

Pasung was recorded at The Bomb Shelter in Nashville, TN, April 5-7, with additional tracking on August 31 and September 1, 2017. The album was engineered and mastered by Drew Carroll who recorded BELDAM's original 5-song demo in 2015. All guitars and bass on the recording were performed by Grahm Reynolds with the exception of "One from the Stable." Cullen Wade handled the drums on the entire record. Pasung represents the truest BELDAM. The band focused a significant amount of time on songwriting and pre-production to get the heaviest tones and thickest riffs possible. After parting ways with their original bassist and relocating to Seattle, BELDAM is psyched to release Pasung to the masses and play as many shows as possible in its new Pacific Northwest home.

Camel of Doom - Terrestrial

Camel of Doom is a three piece band made up of Kris Clayton - Guitar/Vocals/Keyboards, Simon Whittle - Bass, Ben Nield - Drums. Music style is listed as, Psychedelic Progressive Doom Metal. Band location, UK

Terrestrial album released on Solitude Productions 8 February 2016. An impressive and destructive force has been unleashed. This album is menacing. Excellent production. Big distortion sound, heavy stomping drums and captivating vocals.

The band offers us eight tracks of deep and spacial adventure. Resonating waves through the perpetual abyss with the most savage edge. These songs have incredible soundscapes and textures. Reminiscent of bands like Novembers Doom, Neurosis, Space Riders and Paradise Lost. The opening track is about twelve minutes long and sets the frame work for the rest of the album. Out of the eight, the songs that resonated in my mind the most were "A Circle Has No End" it is probably the shortest track on here but it manages to captivate my thoughts with its clean strumming and somber melody. "Sleeper Must Awaken", with a faster pace and interesting riff phrases, I enjoyed playing this one at a high volume and you will too. Finally, "Extending Life, Expanding Conciousness" is an epic way to end the cycle. The keyboard composition is atmospheric and captivating. It sets a build up of powerful emotion and is one to lend your ears to.

Final thoughts, The album is heavy and epic on many levels. the doom roots are there but with enough melody and atmosphere to capture any listener by surprise. I highly recommend it.

Primitive Man / Northless Split

Primitive Man, is a three piece band made up of, Ethan Lee McCarthy - Guitars & Vocals. Jonathan Campos - Bass. Isidro Spy - Drums. Artwork by Ethan Lee McCarthy. Northless is a four piece band made up of, Nicholas Elert - Guitar. Jerry Hauppa - Bass. John Gleisner - Drums. Erik Stenglein - Guitar & Vocals. Band locations, Primitive Man - Denver, CO. Northless - Milwaukee. Music style is listed as, Sludge, doom, metal.

Primitive Man / Northless split to be released March 4th 2016 on Halo of Flies. Kicking things of is Primitive Man. The trembling wave of destruction can be felt upon hitting the play button. Powerful dissonance of low tuned strings and howling screams of the beyond. The material is raw an abrasive. Dirty and sludgy distorted guitar riffs. The song is fifteen minutes long and shakes the ground.

Next up is Northless, they offer us three bone crushing, grit and descending arrangements. With maniacal screams, crust ambiance fills the air waves. The band explores dark corridors and untouched realms of dissonance that are ignored by most. The experience is both intense and strange. My favorite song would be "Wasted Breath", its natural sound and long passages resonate with despair and hopelessness.

In conclusion, both bands embrace all that is chaotic and devastating. A manifestation of grit and doom is exalted into the mortal realm with crushing results.

Canyon of The Skull - Canyon of the Skull

Canyon of the Skull is a two piece band consisting of Erik Ogershok: Guitars, Bass, Adrian Voorhies: Drums, Percussion. Genre described as doom metal. Band origin; Austin, TX.

Canyon of the Skull album self released on October 30th 2015. First impression, rhythms that could shake the walls down. This release is only two songs, but they are both long and powerful. Rooted in doom, you can hear the down tune strings rattle the speakers. "The Path" (Of Bear and Wolf) the opening song, goes for over fifteen minutes. In terms of production the sound is very good. Heavy riffs abound and drums sound natural and precise. Bass tone compliments all the long arrangements very well. Don't expect to hear vocals since there are none. This is an instrumental release but the music is interesting enough to keep your attention that you really don't need vocals. The self title track is also over fifteen minutes long. The short melody at the ending caught my ears. A well written opus.

In conclusion, the music feels like a long journey through cavernous realms. A good and solid performance is delivered by these musicians. ~Artemortifica

The Whorehouse Massacre - Altar of the Goat Skull/VI

The Whorehouse Massacre is a four piece band consisting of W.P. Guitars, Drums, Bass, Vocals , K.H. Bass , K.M. Guitar, Bass , (S.S. Solo on Bowels of Hell and Artwork)
Genre described as black/death metal. Band origin Canada.

Altar of the Goat Skull/VI album released on February 20th 2015 Transcending Obscurity. Raw to the bone. Here is some meaty are destructive metal for you guys into raw and dirty recordings. The album consisting of thirteen songs of pure darkness. The music is rooted in the old ways of the b/m genre. Thinking of bands like Grave, old Satyricon, Samael or Bathory. In terms of production, it sounds like they kept everything simple, no overproduction, just straight forward recording. Heavy distorted guitars and simple drum production. Some of the songs that peaked my ears were, End of Mankind, Sewer Dreams and Altar of the Goat Skull. Although I prefer a better production, I still found the song arrangements and the raw quality reminiscent of the old days of the metal  when the genre was just making waves.

In conclusion, the album captures the essence of the early days of B/M. If you like that obscure and raw sound, than this will most likely peak your interest.

Algoma - Reclaimed by the Forest

Algoma is a three piece band from Garden River/Sault Ste Marie. Members include Darby Wiigwaas - Guitar/Vocals, Kevin Campbell - Bass/Vocals, JV - Drums. Genre is described as Sludge/Doom/Stoner.

Reclaimed by the Forest album released on Dead Beat Media October 8th 2014. This recording is made up of six tracks. Gritty and rough edged are my first thoughts. Bed Sores, comes in with heavy distorted bass and a creepy sample. I get the sense of doom and sludge permeating through this entire opus. If I have to describe it, I would say this is like Black Sabbath meets Neurosis. The title track 'Reclaimed By The Forest' is a perfect example of that aspect. Tertiary Syphilis is tainted with a good amount of punk rock influences. It is a gut punching, face in the dirt type of song. Adding to all the madness are all the clever song titles, "Get On, Git" and "Fell Down a Well" are good candidates.

As far as production, it is not the best, but I think the raw and dirty grit is needed for projecting their style of music.
If you like your metal sludgy, raw and dirty than look no further, add this one to your collection. ~Artemortifica
