CONTRARIAN Release Lyric Video for "Whomsoever Worships The Whiteworm"

Rochester (NY) - U.S. progressive Death Metal squad CONTRARIAN have partnered with Heavy Blog is Heavy for the lyric video premiere of "Whomsoever Worships the Whiteworm," a song from forthcoming album Their Worm Never Dies.

Listen to it at Heavyblogisheavy

Pre-order via Willowtip

Pre-order via Bandcamp

A new school of old school death metal. Creating death metal that is authentically new while have a natural memory and understanding of the old. Rooted in early 90's progressive death metal, but with an unrelenting forward thinking approach, CONTRARIAN return with their third full-length release Their Worm Never Dies.

Spearheaded by guitar player Jim Tasikas, alongside George Kollias (Nile) simultaneously handling drum and vocal duties, CONTRARIAN is not a super group, but a unit of like-minded musicians that coincidentally converged on a vision of what a modern death metal band should sound like.

Organic sounding, yet aggressive and melodically complex, Their Worm Never Dies is packed with snake-like Schuldinerian-style riffage and atmospheric variations that will provide a wholly enticing listen to all those willing to take in its eccentricity.

The band previously released videos for "Exorcism" (video) and "My Curse" (Video).

"Contrarian should please both old-school heads and modern death metal fiends equally."
 - Metal Injection

"Progressive tech-death that bridges the divide between Death, Cynic, and new school manifestations Obscura and Beyond Creation."
 - Decibel

"CONTRARIAN's sound pays homage to the Tech/Progressive Death Metal forefathers DEATH, ATHEIST, CYNIC. The musicianship is excellent, the compositions are tight, and you have to love the riffs."
 - Metal Temple

"It's fucking excellent!"
 - Heavy Blog is Heavy

"Listeners who appreciated Death's progressive era, and would prefer a little Cynic influence thrown in as well, should pick this one up."
 - Metal Reviews

"This is progressive death metal at its finest."
 - The Metal Channel

"If you have any sort of interest in old school prog death, Their Worm Never Dies needs to be on your radar. It captures the essence of the era and presents it in a modern light, and it represents a big step forward for Contrarian."
 - Toilet ov Hell

"An early candidate for best death metal record of 2019."
 - Glacially Musical

"Contrarian is one of those few bands that can claim to take over the torch of Schuldiner and therefore Death."
 - Chronicles in the Abyss

"An album that deserves to be listened to repeatedly and at high volume."
- Musipedia of Metal

"This one is everything the hype has made it out to be. This is a good one, readers."
 - Twenty Red Metal Nails

"A gallery of great solos, a mixture of fluid styles and compositional quality."
- El Comenta Mierda

"If Schuldiner were still around, there's no question the sound Contrarian currently concoct is the route Death would've taken."
 - Technical Music Review

"I encourage you to reach for Their Worm Never Dies, for all those who love what Death, Pestilence, Cynic and other similar bands do."
 - Death Magnetic

Of Hatred Spawn reveal playthru video for Severed Limb Convulsion

The song Severed Limb Convulsion comes from the self titled debut album released back in December 2018. Check out the video on No Clean Singing link below.

View the playthru video Here

The promo states:
The latest blistering death metal entity Of Hatred Spawn unleashed their self-titled debut album worldwide this past December on Boonsdale Records. The band’s studio and live line-up consist of JJ Tartaglia (Skull Fist) on drums, his brother Remy Tartaglia on guitars, Oscar Rangel (ex-Annihilator) on bass and Matt “Coldcuts” Collacott on vocals. The project is the first-ever collaborative offering by the Tartaglia brothers and holds great promise and expectations within the metal community around the world.

The band delivers an old-school death metal sound in the vein of old Morbid Angel, Decapitated, Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Ruination-era Job For A Cowboy, while staying true to the modern trends of today’s extreme metal. Super low-tuned guitars, guttural vocals, blast beat drumming, odd-time signatures, and tempo shifts create the atmosphere for Of Hatred Spawn’s demonic sound. The lyrical themes tell stories of plagues, slavery, darkness and the balance of evil.

Teaming up with NoCleanSinging.com, the band is premiering drummer JJ Tartaglia's new playthrough for the album's track "Severed Limb Convulsion".

Tartaglia comments:

"This song is probably the heaviest one on the album. Straight up death metal, with quite a few changes in odd-time signatures of 11/8, 7/8, 5/8, and 6/8 and a tempo shift as well. All of the elements give it quite a modern sound making it one of my fave tracks. Real fun to play as well.”

Track Listing:
1. Overture (1:36)
2. Global Dehumanization (3:38)
3. Nest Of Vipers (4:57)
4. Severed Limb Convulsion (3:30)

6. Nocturnal Swarm (4:06)
7. God Of Wrath (5:27)

Neorhythm release (Death Cover) - Crystal Mountain

Neorhythm is streaming the song "Crystal Mountain" originally by Death from the album Symbolic released in 1995. The band features two members only known as Red One Red Two.

Listen to it HERE

The promo states:

Interstellar duo NEORHYTHM have released a new digital single, a cover of DEATH's "Crystal Mountain." The original song appears on DEATH's 1995 album Symbolic.

NEORHYTHM recently released the Meteoric Thoughts EP. The follow-up to this year's creatively aggressive debut album, Zetetic, includes three new tracks, as well as pummeling covers of DISTURBED's "Stricken" and MUDVAYNE's "Dig." Stream Meteoric Thoughts in its entirety: neorhythm-bandcamp-meteoric-thoughts

NEORHYTHM offer what can only be described as Metal from Space. Creative in concept and aggressive in approach, you are cordially invited to take an interstellar journey that will prove impossible to forget.

Meteoric Thoughts was recorded and produced by NEORHYTHM. The EP was mixed/mastered at BlastbearSound. The artwork was created by Orm Embar.

Bio:
On a distant planet in the constellation E61,3 (which we call Neuw ourselves), two renegade traitors of interstellar spaces from the red subrace of Nameless decided to penetrate the Virgo Supercluster. It happened on the earthly calendar in the year 1703. For more than 300 years our spaceship plowed through the galaxy until it came across the Milky Way to the bright yellow dwarf G2V, which you call Sol. A strong stream of stellar wind carried us to the orbit of planet Earth, where as a result of a breakdown of one of the plasma engines we were forced to land in the geographic terrestrial region of Lapland, in a barren taiga. Since we needed help, we sent encrypted sound signals to all regions of the universe, as well as to the top leaders of the human Terra planet, to provide us with technological support. Our signals, converted into musical scales, were intercepted by the developed radio frequencies of earthlings, and you can now listen to them in the form that you call songs.

Exclusive interview with NEX

Welcome readers, it is my pleasure to introduce you all to NEX, modern Death metal band from Poland.

1-  Hello and welcome to Metal Music Midwest, first off, thanks for taking the time to do the interview, could you give our readers a brief description of the group?

(Nomad)-Hi, There!
Nex is a modern death metal band formed in 2013 in Szczecin Poland.

Our music is a mix of various styles and ideas on how metal should sound like in our heads. I’ve heard people comparing us to Gojira, Behemoth, Vader, all-at-once, nothing they’ve heard before… So as you can see there is plenty to choose from (laughs). I think that the word “modern” describes us best.

2- World Collapses is the band's debut LP, how long did it take to write and was this a collaborative work or did one person write all the music?

(Nomad)-It took us nearly two years to create this material. We were brand new to the music industry and did not know where to start actually. Thought we knew one thing – we wanted this album to be as good as we could make it in all terms, technically, musically, lyrically and every other “ly” one could imagine (laughs).

Also, it was definitely a collaborative work. Everyone of us brought their very own piece into this album.

3- What musical influence inspires the Lps compositions?

(Nomad)-Gojira, Behemoth, Vader, Decapitated, Cynic, Septicflesh, Cynic, Misery Index, Lamb of God and many, many more.

4- As far as live performances, how receptive are audiences to the music?

(Nomad)-So far so good – The biggest show we have ever played was for around 200 people and the enthusiasm shared before, during, and after the show was just amazing! And the best think about that is that rule does not only apply to bigger audience. We have also played smaller shows and the reaction is nearly always the same – people like our music and we are proud of it very much. I think we have the best audience there is and when they get to know us they stay for longer and want to hear more from us. From this point I would like to say “thank you” to everyone supporting us. You Rule!

5- The title of this Lp is World Collapses, can you give us details about the content and more in depth meaning to this title?

(Nomad)-It is a concept album describing a story of human kind and their obsession with power. How one soul can redefine the world order and how man can change by the pressure of their surroundings. It is also behind the scenes of becoming a Totalitarian Leader.

6- The band started in 2014, Was it difficult to find musicians to collaborate with? did the band start out with one or two members? or did everyone come together at the same time?

(Nomad)-Our former guitarist Sova left the note on the internet that he was looking for a members to join his band that was actually in the process of making. It was December 2013, I moved to Szczecin from Warsaw and was also looking for someone to play with. It was a match. We quickly started looking for a rehearsal’s room and when we found it, some guy messaged us nearly instantly if we had some spare space so he could leave his amp and play from time to time. We just skipped the message as we did not know him. Oh, and I forgot – this guy’s nickname was Brooda (Laughs). Not so long after this message we figured that he could be the guy to join us. That’s it for the origins of Nex as far as I recall.

7- What are the band's future plans? is there going to be a full length in the future?

(Nomad)-Definitely! We are in the process of making music for the new album.

Currently we are also searching for the new Vocalist and Guitarist as Sova left the band, not so long ago, due to personal reasons. We fully understand him and wish him all the best.

8- Are there any upcoming shows or tours you can tell us about?

(Nomad)-We do not want to spoil the future. First things first, we have to find a new member.

We will keep everyone posted on our fan page.

9- Thanks for your participation, finally, what is the best way to get a hold of the band? in case someone wants to book or promote the band? Any final words?

Thank You! The best way to contact us is to message us either on our fan page facebook.com/nexpoland/ or via e-mail nexpoland@gmail.com. And remember, even though there is a difficult time in front of us, we’re not dead yet.

NEX sets January 31st as an international release date for their album "The World Collapses"!

Nex to nowoczesny zespół deathmetalowy założony w 2013 roku w Szczecinie.

ByliÅ›my nowi w branży muzycznej i nie wiedzieliÅ›my, od czego zacząć. MyÅ›leliÅ›my, że znamy jednÄ… rzecz - chcieliÅ›my, aby ten album byÅ‚ tak dobry, jak to tylko możliwe, pod wzglÄ™dem technicznym, muzycznym, lirycznym i każdym innym "ly", jaki można sobie wyobrazić (Å›miech).

Poza tym zdecydowanie była to praca zespołowa. Każdy z nas wniósł swój własny kawałek do tego albumu.

3- Jaki muzyczny wpływ inspiruje kompozycje Lps?
Gojira, Behemot, Vader, Decapitated, Cynic, Septicflesh, Cynic, Misery Index, Baranek Boży i wiele, wiele innych.

Szybko zaczęliśmy szukać pokoju prób, a kiedy go znaleźliśmy, jakiś facet niemal natychmiast przesłał nam wiadomości, jeśli mieliśmy trochę wolnego miejsca, żeby od czasu do czasu zostawić swój wzmacniacz i grać.

W pełni go rozumiemy i życzymy wszystkiego najlepszego.

NEX ustawia 31 stycznia jako międzynarodową datę wydania ich albumu "The World Collapses"

Corprophemia - Abhorrogenesis

Corprophemia is a four piece band, members are Vocals - Matt Kelly. Guitar - Franky D'Alimonte. Guitar - Mat Lemmon. Drums - Jason Longo. Music style is listed as, Technical Death Metal. Band location, Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

Abhorrogenesis album released on CDN Records March 11, 2016. The heaviness coming from this release is over the top. Clever and potent samples on almost every track can be heard. The low tuned chords represented would make Meshuggah proud.

Eleven songs of menacing brutality. Very good production. Crushing hooks and memorable passages. Some of the more outstanding performances from this album for me, would be "Hour Of The Witch", "Divine Creation" and "Supreme Dark Covenant". Some of the influence that may be noted would be bands like, Kranium, Pathology, Kataplexy and Devourment. While there is no new ground breaking material, the music sets a high level of energy and is most certainly engaging on all levels of the genre.

In conclusion, music that will have you picking up pieces of your skull. The samples and catchy verses are in par with traditional death metal but they explore low tune dissonance that is embedded with more of todays prominent brutal death bands.

Hemotoxin - Biological Enslavement

Hemotoxin is a four piece band, members are Michael Chavez-Guitar/Vocals. Michael Rohwer-Guitar. Nathan Fruth-Bass. Brandon Wilcox-Drums. Music style is listed as, Progressive Death Metal/Thrash. Band location, Pittsburg, CA.

Biological Enslavement album to be released on Unspeakable Axe Records 15 April 2016. This release is one of the most potent and extreme albums that has hit my ears this past week. The band has been delivering their brand of furiosity since 2011. The album has great production. The levels of progression are through the roof. You can not categorize something this awesome. It comes at you from every direction. It's thrash, it's groove, it's death, it's tech, it's melodic, it's prog, really, all of them, all at once.

They offer us nine tracks of sheer brutality and complex riffing. Think of bands like Archspire, Defeated Sanity, Malevolent Creation and Death. Every song creates its own characteristics and you are bound to find something to engage your thoughts and leave you wondering how the levels of intensity could be raised so high. Among my favorite songs from this album would have to be, "Bleak Prognosis", "Not of This World", "Regression" and "Transparent Eyes".

In conclusion, if you're looking for something that will get your blood pumping and shatter your skull with intense, yet progressive sounds, then look no further, this is the album for you.

Murder Made God - Enslaved

Murder Made God is a four piece band made up of, Vocals-George. Guitars-Dennis. Bass-Stelios. Drums-Tolis. Music style is listed as, tech death metal. Band location, Thessaloniki,Greece.

Enslaved album to be released on April 15th 2016 Comatose Music. Upon hitting the play button a vicious attack of pure and unforgiving intensity is quickly delivered and my face is melted. No time is wasted as the music unfolds. With no restraints it batters its unsuspecting listeners. All the characteristics of extreme metal are explore. Some influences that can be noted would be bands like, Vader, Krisium, Suffocation and Morbid Angel. A very good production and heavy performance is captured.

With this release the band offers us ten powerful songs of devastating nature. The title track is one of my favorites. Intense double kicks and demonic vocals. "Titan", is another big contender with high levels of aggression unfolding, is hard to resist the madness.

In conclusion, if you want technical, progressive, extreme metal with a distinct sharp edge, then look no further, this album is for you.

Blade of Horus - Monumental Massacre

Blade of Horus is a three piece band made up of, IVAN ELLIS-Guitars. ERIC JENKINS- Lyrics. JAMES BUCKMAN- Guitars. KEVIN TALLY - Drums. Music style is listed as, technical death metal. Band location, Sydney and Newcastle.

Monumental Massacre album released on Lacerated Enemy Records 29 January 2016. A powerful and intense release. Well thought out and arranged. With many arpeggios and elaborate scales through out, there is no shortages of interesting things to hear. If I were to name a few influences they would be bands like Misery Index, Soreption, Cryptopsy, Revocation and Archspire.

In total, the band offers us seven crushing tracks with sudden stops and complex structures. Among my favorites would be the songs, "Descent into the Cosmic Realm of Everlasting Madness", catchy melodies and the solos are truly futuristic, the song "Succumb to the Overwhelming Stench of Necrophagia", I actually had this on repeat for a while on my player. The main riff is easily captured in my mind and it is a heavy tune to clench your fist and headbang to.

Final thoughts, if you like technical and pure brutal music, then look no further, this is the album for you.
