1- Hello and welcome to Metal Music Midwest, first off, thanks for taking the time to do the interview, could you give our readers a brief description of the group? Where is the band from?
Thanks for the interest, Witchgöat is a band formed with the idea of retaking the old-school brutality of early Latin American and European thrash metal, adding a bit of the melodic aspect of the school of blackened death metal bands of the nineties. Witchgöat is formed by Salvadoran musicians with some experience in this musical genre.
2- Egregors of the Black Faith is the band's debut full album, how long did it take to write?
I started writing the songs for the project at the beginning of 2016, with the idea of awakening the interest of some musician friends in the Salvadoran scene who soon joined the project, and the composition of the music for this album was finished at the beginning of 2017. There is a song "Putrefaction of Souls" (that was composed in 1991 for my first band called Funeral), this song was never recorded before so I decided to retake it and made arrangements to incorporate it to the album. Although the album was composed since the beginning of 2017, there were some setbacks to coordinate with the rest of the band and to prepare the songs. It took us just over a year to be ready to record all the instruments, time in which M. Miasma composed the majority of lyrics for the album.
3- What musical influence inspires the bands compositions?
Some of us are not so young anymore, we have been listening to metal music since the eighties and we played our instruments since the early nineties, I would say that our influence comes from those days, from music like the early Sepultura, Sarcofago, Bathory, the melodic lead guitar of Coroner, the old sound of Mercyful Fate, the speed metal of Running Wild and Motorhead. Much of the music that was played in those days was quite melodic and catchy, bands like Exorcist, the early sound of Possessed and Death. There is also something of the sound of minor third harmonies developed extensively by the Swedish and Norwegian bands of the nineties ... we try to incorporate a bit of all the music we love and have been fans of all of our lives.
4- The group started in 2016, can you tell us what inspired your ambition to begin the project?
El Salvador is a very small country, underdeveloped and not much known, but we want to show that here we also share the spirit of primitive brutality that made great metal music from South America and the whole world. We spit our version of the metal music from the third world trying to collaborate with our effort to the development of this kind of music in the Central American region. Many of the current bands in El Salvador do a good job, bands like Conceived by Hate have set precedents coming up on European tours, bands like Invocation of Death, Morbid Stench, Conflicto just show very good potential, we hope to be part of that family of bands that put El Salvador on the metal scene map.
5- Can you give us details about the content and more in depth meaning to this new album?
In terms of the lyrics we touched topics related to SLM, war and psychotic illness.
6- In the beginning was it difficult to find musicians to collaborate with? did the band start out with one or two members? or did everyone come together at the same time? After composing the first two songs, drummer E.Driller joined the band, he takes part of other projects in which I had the opportunity to participate. He showed interest in the new music and accepted to play for the new band. A few months later I asked M. Miasma for help, besides his talent as a great musician, he had the right voice for the project and, above all, he shares with me the same philosophical vision about what a band of this kind of metal should be. He accepted to be the vocalist and immediately recruited bassist C.Fog who is also a musician of great experience in the local bands of El Salvador. This is how by the end of 2016 the band was all complete, and in early 2017 we began to work on developing the compound themes.
7- The demo Umbra Regit originally recorded July 2018, how well was it received by the metal fans from your area?
Umbra Regit was the pilot demo that we recorded in parallel while preparing the debut album. Its sound is quite different from the album, it has a precarious production since it was totally produced by the members of the band in home studios. However, I think it has an honest sound and by listening to this demo you can already appreciate all the elements of the music of Witchgöat. Being a pilot test, a very limited edition was produced on tape , which was sold out in preorder, which was quite surprising. The review of the demo was generally positive and this encouraged us to continue working and improving the elements of the sound of the debut album.
8- Are there any upcoming shows or tours you can tell us about? At the moment we don’t rule out performing concerts locally organizing with other Morbid Skull Records bands. El Salvador is a small country and it is easy to cover the entire territory in a few shows. Later on, if there is an opportunity to promote the album and organize concerts outside of our territory, we would be very interested.
9- Thanks for your participation, finally, what is the best way to get a hold of the band, in case someone wants to book or promote the band? Any final words?

Bastardos is a three piece band, Members are, drums: Tomás Creatini. Bass and Vocals: Damián Alfaro. Guitar: Tomás Doglioli. Music style is listed as Thrash Metal Band location, Buenos Aires.
This is a reissue by Grimm Distribution and Morbid Skull Records. Here we get ten songs striking with full thrash metal ambition. With songs like Horror Celestial and Apocalipsis Thrash, they pack a lot of strength in their composition. Powerful bass lines and sharp detailed solos are strung about from song to song and it is very easy to enjoy if you like the thrash metal genre. The album also comes as a vinyl pressing that looks very nice and should make it into your collection. In conclusion, the energy and potency of the music comes across in clear and powerful production. If you like the old pillars of thrash metal like old Destruction, Overkill and Kreator then you will definitely want to check this out. Visit the band at facebook-thrash.bastardos
Cryptic Realms is a four piece band, members are Kostas Analytis - Vocals. Uriel Aguillon on Guitars / Drums. Victor Varas - on Bass Guitar. Tersis Zonato - Drums, Guitar Solos, Acoustic guitars. Music style is listed as, metal. Band location, USA, Greece, Brazil and Mexico. The Rotten is Alive EP released on Dark Recollections Prods label on 20th March 2016. The opening song to this release "Shattered Dreams", sounds very classical. A clean strumming guitar piece with a sorrowful melody that is also complex in structure. The next track "Begging to the dead", clearly rooted in old school d/m but powerful enough to punch you in the gut. The characteristics of the recording are reminiscent of the band Death, Spiritual Healing era. Like a tribute to those distant times, it does work really well for these musicians. Some of the stand out performances from this album, for me, will be "Shadows of Disgrace" and "Scattered Thoughts". In conclusion, if you enjoy old school death metal with a sharp edge, then be sure to check out this band. An energetic EP that will rip out your soul straight from your bones. ~Artemortifica facebook-thecrypticrealms
Human Decay is a four piece band made up of, Francesco Belloni - Guitar/Voice. Jean Edifizi - Guitar. Michele Giromini - Bass. Mattia Mornelli - Drums. Music style is listed as, Thrash/Death Metal. Band location, Lunigiana - Massa Carrara. Cleptocrazia album released on Sliptrick Records 2015. Exploring the fringes of frantic sounds and razor sharp metal. The album offers us a wave of old school death metal with twist and turns to keep the listemer guessing as to what comes next. Like a mad scientist cooking up unseen monsters to haunt our dreams. Some of the things that captured my interest were the guitar solos. You can hear one or two in almost every song. The solos add an extra flare to the compositions. The entire album comes across powerful and potent. With elements that are rooted in early thrash metal genre. Some of my favorite tracks from this release would be, "Brucia" and "Sperma Benedetto". The two happen have the most resonance and engaging riffs. The bonus song is an interesting one and sounds like a hard rock track and its much different than the rest of the album, it is worth checking out. Final thoughts, the album is strong, with wacky samples and superior solos. If you enjoy thrash/death metal with an edge, this is worth checking out. ~Artemortifica facebook-truehumandecay
Evil Whiplash is a five piece band made up of, JULIAN RUIZ - Drums & Backing Vocals. JHON TALAGA - Bass. EVIL DOZER - Guitar & Voices. JHONATAN CORREDOR - Guitar Music style is listed as, Thrashing Heavy Metal. Band location, Colombia. Beyond Dimensions album released on Iron, Blood & Death Corporation, October 31 2015. Pure and completely bare bone production. High screams and fast solos like the early days days of the thrash metal genre. Think of bands like Violence, Destruction, Dark Angel and Exodus. The production is limited but it adds to the characteristic of the early thrash metal sound they are invoking. One of the things that stands out the most to me is the guitar solos. Strong and well arranged, although dated compared to what the new generation is doing, for the sake of the era they invoke, it fits perfectly and governs above the musical scope of this album. Among my favorite songs would be, "I Still Remember", "In The Name of The Ancient Empire", and Possessed which comes in with a particular catchy acoustic guitar that captivates the thoughts. Final conclusion, fans of the old thrash metal underground era of the early 80's take note. These musicians are raising the old relics in exact form and are not to be missed. ~Artemortifica facebook-evilwhiplash
Rebel Wizard is a one piece band made up of, Nekrasov. Music style is listed as, heavy negative wizard metal. Band location, Australia. Invocation of the Miserable Ones EP self released on December 11 2015. An energetic and intense manifestation of pure metal madness. In some ways thrash rhythms are expressed but can easily be translated to the original metal styles of the early 80s. The thing that grabs my attention is the black metal style of vocalization. It works well in my opinion. Instead of high vocals like a Judas Priest or Maiden type, we get a Mayhem or Satyricon type of screams which make it interesting to listen to. In total we get four songs. Fast solos, rapid fire drums with aggressive double kicks. I would have to say my favorite track from this release is the title song "Invocation of the Miserable Ones", the main melody is easy to jam to and the guitar solos are fluid and fast. Final thoughts, the essence of the old metal music is captured and the black metal vocals make it interesting for the listener to explore its realms of darkness. ~Artemortifica facebook-rebelwizard
Vomit of Doom - is a three piece band consisting of Venomous Abominator-Drums, Vocals. Artillery Command-Guitars. Endless Malevolence-Guitars (lead). Genre described as Black/Thrash Metal. Band origin Argentina. Obey The Darkness album released on Satanath Records August 16th 2015. Listening to this for the first time I get a vision like the gates of apocalypse flying open, very cryptic, but close to what the music can manifest. Some of the main influence that come to my mind would be Pestilence, Beastial Raids, Venom, early Slayer and Celtic Frost. Imaging bare knuckles smashing concrete or a violent pit about to unfold, many of the songs can cause for brutal interactions as such. In terms of production, the music is gritty and rough but it adds extra character to the sound. In total they offer us thirteen compositions of evil and raw black-thrash metal coming at you at full throtle. The most stand out tracks for me would be "Conspiracy VS The World", it brings back memories of the good days of metal like Venom or Death Angel. Another strong contender would have to be "Maze of Doom", fast and precise drumming with a catchy chorus.
In conclusion, if you enjoy old school raw style of metal then this album is worth exploring. ~Artemortifica facebook-vomitofdoomarg
Turbocharged is a three piece band consisting of Ronnie Ripper - Bass/Lead Throat. Freddie Fister - Drums/Throat. Old Nick - Guitars. Genre described as Deathpunk metal. Band origin Sweden. Band origin Sweden/Poland. Enlightenment by Bloodletting split to be released on Godz Ov War Productions / Mythrone Promotion on March 2016. Lets start with Turbocharged. They come out with all guns set to rapid fire right from the start. Heavy, crushing with no fucks given and solid assault of blazing double kicks on the drums. Guitar riffs are catchy and have a raw distortion sound which adds character to the music. Ragehammer, crushes the senses with bare knuckles and shredding guitars. One of the things that stands out is the heavy bass tone which is dominant through out the song and fits perfectly with the entire brutality being projected at us by this music. I would say my favorite song from this split would be "PanzerFaustian Enlightenment", it is a track that really gets the blood pumping and makes you want to punch things. In conclusion, a short but highly energetic release of pure black/death metal madness. A must for true followers of the underground. ~Artemortifica metal-archives-Ragehammer facebook-turbochargedswe godzovwarproductions-ragehammer-panzerfaustian-enlightenment
Nuclear is a five piece band consisting of, Sebastian Puente - Guitars Francisco Haussmann - Guitars, Punto Sudy - Drums, Roberto Barría - Bass, Matías Leonicio - Vocals. Genre described as Thrash Metal. Band origin Santiago, Chile. Formula For Anarchy album released on Candlelight Records, August 21 2015. My first impression, the heart of rebellion can be felt through out the entire album. From time to time the music reminds me of early Exodus, D.R.I., Nuclear Assault, Agnostic Front and even an early Slayer influence like Haunting The Chapel era. Good production quality in every composition. Tight drums, pounding double kicks. Heavy distorted guitars. Intense vocal attacks. It is an enjoyable album. My favorite songs from this release would have to be "Self Righteous Hypocrites", "Waging War" and Tough Guy. I can honestly say every song kicks you in the teeth. No holds barred, fist in the air type of aggression.
In conclusion, the album carries the old school essence of death/thrash metal. Fans of early Nuclear Assault, Suicidal Tendencies and D.R.I. would be more than happy to add this to their collection. ~Artemortifica facebook-nuclearcl
War Curse is a five piece band consisting of, Tarek Puska-Vocals, Justin Roth-Guitars, Joshua Murphy-Guitars, James Goetz-Drums, Eric Payne-Bass. Genre described as Thrash / Heavy Metal. Band origin Cincinnati, OH. Final Days album to be self released December 4 2015. As the name implies, it is exactly what you'll hear. Opening with bomb sirens into the song "Dawn Patrol", a powerful track to pummel the senses. Guitar riffs shredding with fast attack and ripping solo work. Some of the influences that come to mind would be bands like Overkill, D.R.I. early Anthrax and Slayer. As you might imaging the majority of the content is war and conflict related. The song that peaked my interest the most would have to be the title track "Final Days". A futuristic war against aliens with dire consequences. In conclusion, good production quality catchy riffs and memorable solos. Fans of thrash/war metal will want to add this one to their collection.~Artemortifica facebook-warcursemetal
Bloodlust is black/thrash metal band from Perth Western Australia. Two members include Spectre and Disaster. Cultus Diaboli released on limited edition cassette through Iron, Blood & Death Corporation 2015. Formed in 2011 the group first released a demo "Thrashing Black Devil Worship" and "Death Magic Rites" 2013. My first impression, raw and chaotic. The fires of hell have been conjured up and brought forth the fury of the early days of black/thrash. Think of groups like Venom, Devastator, early Sepultura and Sodom. Plenty of gut shredding solos and pummeling drum beats like tanks rolling through the streets. The songs that stood out the most would have to be Crowned in Black Fire, Spell of the Raven Witch and Rex Inferni in Terra (The Antichrist Enthroned). The production is not the best but it sure does add to the early era feel of the sounds. Final thoughts, if you like your metal raw and devastating with the hell fires raging all around than this is a must for your collection. ~Artemortifica facebook-Bloodlust
After co-founding member Steven "Steve-In" Breen decided to part ways with MUTANK in January to return to his hometown of St. John's, NL, the Montreal based thrashers and 2014 Wacken Metal Battle Canada winners found themselves in search of a new machine to fire up the fret boards. In a statement issued by the band: "The selection process wasn't easy by any means. Breen was such an enormous presence, regarding one a of a kind writing style, a flawless, yet savage stage performance and overall possessing the ideal chemistry the band needed to grow and evolve. We aren't just musicians in this band, we clearly are lunatics with instruments, and we need the type who can juggle swords and laugh about their scars later. Standing apart during initial auditions was Jordan Kelly, a previous band mate of front man Stephen "Steve Out" Reynolds, also hailing from Newfoundland who had relocated to Montreal to further his musical career. Being well versed in many underground styles, with a proven road ready dedication and drive with musical ability to match, the band decided on Jordan even before Breen had left Montreal. Keeping the "M.E.C.H. Metal" spirit as true as ever, MUTANK with our members current and past, are continuing to bust heads and wreak havoc on the scene. We had a lot of interest shown when Breen had made his choice to split final, and to those who had came down to audition - we say TANK MU! We are honoured to have had such great energy from distinctly styled guitarists who had tried out. Stay tuned for upcoming concert announcements, tonnes of heavy new music and more in the very near future. You've been warned......"
Biotoxic Warfare is a five piece band from Greece. Members are Mike-Vocals, George-Lead Guitars/Backing Vocals, Stelios-Rhythm Guitars, Panagiwtis PS-Bass, Orestis-Drums. Genre described as Thrash metal. Lobotomized album released on January 2015 Slaney Record. The release features eight songs. My first impression, the old school metal influence is evident from the opening track. Some of the bands that popped into my head as I listen to this release were, Death, Overkill, old Sepultura, Anthrax and D.R.I. Comparisons aside, the album progresses from thrash then into death metal realm as it reaches the end. The guitar solos are great. A lot of memorable melodies and structures. "Dysphoric Reality", is one of my favorite songs. On this particular track, the influence of the band Death and Slayer is very clear in the composition. The title song "Lobotomized", is another worth mentioning. It has a catchy acoustic twelve string guitar intro that stuck in my head. "Parasitic Life", comes in with relentless battery which is great to my ears. "As We Rot" brings a thunderous drum progression followed by blistering blast beats. This is one of the songs I played several times at a loud volume. In conclusion, this is an aggressive and punishing album that should not be missed, both fans of the old school thrash metal and the new generation of metalheads will find something to enjoy from this album. ~Artemortifica facebook.-Biotoxic-Warfare
