NilExistence - Existence in Revelation

NilExistence is a five piece band, members are Dave Gruver- Guitar. Ryan Kratzer- Guitar. Isaac Dillon- Bass. Kyle Kratzer- Drums. Patrick Tuohey- Vocals. Music style is listed as, Death Metal/Extreme Metal. Band location, Moravia, NY.

Existence in Revelation album to be self released on 25 March 2016. My initial thoughts are, destructive, punishing and completely brutal. From the opening song "The Quietus", we get intense blast beats that batter the senses without mercy. Presenting eight songs with this release, the band shows they are savage and powerful. A level of intensity that leaves no survivors in its wake. Good production, creative drums, heavy distorted tones and demonic vocals exhibited in every passage. Roaring double kicks annihilate and lay down a solid foundation for the rhythm guitars.

Some of my favorite songs from this album would be "Primordial Transgression", "Pitch Black Perception" and "Screams Form Silence".

In conclusion, the adrenaline levels are raised high. The music comes through with brut force. If you like brutal and extreme metal, then look no further and check out this band.

Hemotoxin - Biological Enslavement

Hemotoxin is a four piece band, members are Michael Chavez-Guitar/Vocals. Michael Rohwer-Guitar. Nathan Fruth-Bass. Brandon Wilcox-Drums. Music style is listed as, Progressive Death Metal/Thrash. Band location, Pittsburg, CA.

Biological Enslavement album to be released on Unspeakable Axe Records 15 April 2016. This release is one of the most potent and extreme albums that has hit my ears this past week. The band has been delivering their brand of furiosity since 2011. The album has great production. The levels of progression are through the roof. You can not categorize something this awesome. It comes at you from every direction. It's thrash, it's groove, it's death, it's tech, it's melodic, it's prog, really, all of them, all at once.

They offer us nine tracks of sheer brutality and complex riffing. Think of bands like Archspire, Defeated Sanity, Malevolent Creation and Death. Every song creates its own characteristics and you are bound to find something to engage your thoughts and leave you wondering how the levels of intensity could be raised so high. Among my favorite songs from this album would have to be, "Bleak Prognosis", "Not of This World", "Regression" and "Transparent Eyes".

In conclusion, if you're looking for something that will get your blood pumping and shatter your skull with intense, yet progressive sounds, then look no further, this is the album for you.

The Burning Dogma - No Shore of Hope

The Burning Dogma is a six piece band, members are Andrea Montefiori-Vocals. Maurizio Cremonini guitar. Diego Luccarini-guitar. Simone Esperti-Bass. Giovanni Esposito Tastiera. Antero Villaverde -Drums. Music style is listed as, Dark Electro Death metal. Band location, Italy.

No Shore of Hope album released on February 19th 2016 Sliptrick Records. My first thoughts are, maximum sound, a superior performance is captured. The intro grabs my attention. Good title "Waves of Solitude" which leads us into the monumental song "The Breach", upon hearing it for the first time, it completely melted my face. It becomes my favorite track from this release, the ending shatters my skull with intense melody and sorrowful sonic supremacy. Encountering a good variety of vocals as I listen, from low and mid growl, high screams and female vocals, there is never a dull moment. The music is progressive and delivers a high level of intensity. The complex arrangements and solos are the best part for me. A good example of these elements is found in the song "Burning Times", its a clever tune and catchy melodies will have you feeling the raw power and emotion the group brings to the listener. I can imaging bands like Dream Theater, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Lahmia and At The Gates as a influence on many of the rhythms.

In conclusion, the album creates many eloborate layers of exploration, it is heavy and melodic without comprimising the sheer brutality in full context.

Shock After Collapse - Shock After Collapse

Shock After Collapse is a five piece band, members are Blai Drummer-drums, Rob Marco-guitars,bass,vocals,keyboards. Pedro Duran-Guitars, Jimmi Cuenca-Bass, Zyrus-Vocals. Music style is listed as, Metal. Band location, Madrid, Spain.

Shock After Collapse album self released on October 21 2015. My initial thoughts are, incredibly fucking heavy, tremendous fury, an unbridled power is released upon my ears. Production is solid and well balanced sounds. The album is an impressive debut and can make you headbang from the first instant you hear it. A mix of low aggressive vocals, high screams and also clean singing. Some influence that may be noted would be In Flames, Opeth, Lamb of God, Dream Theater and Chimera. With this release, the band is offering eight savage tracks. Among my favorites would have to be "Wall of Death", like a call to action in a mosh pit situation, this song gets your blood pumping and your fist clenching. The song "Dust", pummels the senses. High waves of anger can be felt, but it is also layered with good melodies to balance things out very smoothly.

In conclusion, this is a kind of album the batters you from beggining to end. Taking many elements from brutal to melodic and conbining them to come up with something unique and destructive. Both old school and new comers will find something to enjoy about it.

Interment - Scent of the Buried

Interment is a four piece band, members are Johan Jansson - Guitars/Vox, Torbjörn Brynedal - Guitars, Allan Lundholm - Bass, Kennet Englund - Drums. Music style is listed as, Swedish Old School Death Metal. Band location, Sweden.

Scent of the Buried album to be released on Dark Descent April 1st 2016. The band brings us another installment of raging brutality from the well established death metal roots of the early nineties. The raw and punishing wave of destruction that is contained within these compositions will melt your face. A familiar structure of aggression is thrust upon my ears and the savagery begins. Delivering ten menacing and potent tracks of old school material. Right down to the recording quality and horror movie samples, its all represented here.

Adding this album to their collection of macabre renderings since 1991. Sounding just as good as if it came out of that era and maintaining a level of power that is devastating and barbaric. I would say my favorite songs from this release are, "Scent of the Buried", "Dawn of Blasphemy" and Nailed to the Grave.

Final thoughts, old school fans will be delited and the new generation will enjoy the true raw brutality that can only come from the ground roots.

Megascavenger - As Dystopia Beckons

Megascavenger is a two piece band made up of Rogga Johansson - Guitars, Bass, Vocals
Brynjar Helgetun - Drums and several guest featured. Music style is listed as, Death Metal.
Band location, Sweden.

As Dystopia Beckons album released on Selfmadegod Records March 1st  2016. My initial thoughts are, this release offers a wide variety of death metal and does it in the most brutal way. Pure punishment is delivered from the opening track. Each song creates its own characteristics and keeps the listener engaged to the music.

The first songs "Rotting Domain" features (Sven Gross of Fleshcrawl)
"The Machine That Turns Humans Into Slop" featuring (David Ingram of Hail of Bullets, Echelon, ex-Benediction, ex-Bolt Thrower) they are the heavy hitters. Definitely rooted in the brutal death spectrum. Very powerful and destructive. "As The Last Day Has Passed", is a different track, more on the melodic end, thinking of bands like early In Flames or At The Gates, well executed and energetic. "Dead Rotting And Exposed", this song brings some grinding beats and harsh guttural vocals. Very intense in its delivery and dishes out a good amount of octane. "Steel Through Flesh Extravaganza", now this track resembles and early Fear Factory feeling in its introduction, then morphs into a Ministry type of blast beat. The closing and title track is menacing and haunting, like a sci fi horror film unleashing mech robots into a dark void. It sets a dark atmosphere and is much different than the other compositions.

Final thoughts, this album is powerful, its many facets and sounds keep things interesting. The brutality and force are always there no matter what other elements are mixed in. A solid performance is delivered and the metal underground fans will not be disappointed.

Spektralaeon - Crushing The Monolith

Spektralaeon is a one man band consisting of Uraeus. Lead guitar performances credited to Sean Currington. Music style is listed as, black/death metal. Band location, Wisconsin.

Crushing The Monolith EP self released on March 1st 2016. My initial thoughts are, a solid and powerful wave of sonic intensity. To my unsuspecting ears the music comes flowing at a high velocity. Being a debut ep, it is impressive to hear the level of aggression persisting from riff to riff. Great production quality with a solid drum sound.

Unleashing fury with the song "Entropic Dystopia", the intro slowly builds up and then suddenly the blast beat hits you and you know your in for a brutal ride. Cryptic low guttural vocals magnify the force. Arrangements that are well stitched patterns of both black metal and death metal roots. One of the things I enjoyed in this particular song were the rapid solos. Memorable and well conceived. Next up is, "Deviant Scion", heavier and more dynamic than the first song and features another style of vocals reminiscent of Simen Hestnæs from early Dimmu Borgir days. The last and title track is "Crushing The Monolith", it is punishing and it is a perfect way to close out this release. If I may note some influence, I would say, Ad Noctum, The Cold Beyond, Demonic Christ and Black Witchery.

Final thoughts, a short but monumental Ep. The music delivers high energy from all directions. You can sample the release right from the BC link embedded on the post below. Be sure to also visit the band at their FB site also provided below.

Centrilia - Memento Mori

Centrilia is a four piece band made up of, Gareth Ellis Bass, Vocals (backing). Andy Brown - Drums. David Sandford-Guitars, Vocals (backing). Gavin Marshall-Vocals. Music style is listed as, Melodic Death Metal/Metalcore. Band location, Glasgow, Scotland.

Memento Mori album self released on December 11 2015. Here is an ep that blew my mind. An epic and crushing assault is delivered. Since the start of the year many promos have hit my ears, but this one stayed in my mp3 player long after completing my review and I will most likely keep it in my player because the music is just that good.

For an Ep made up of five tracks, it is massive and afflicting ride. The relentless power they deliver kicks of with "Tsunami", with a modern metal approach, the song is just devastating and if you are not hooked by the time you reach the end, then I would say, get your ears checked. The track "Be A Voice, Not An Echo", is absolutely my favorite, the spirit of rebellion is exalted high, it is a song that gets your fist pumping and the rage can penetrate deep inside. "The I In Evil", is another strong contender. I recently viewed a youtube video of the band performing this song live in concert and it is every bit as energetic as the recording. Some of the bands that can be noted as an influence would be At The Gates, Lamb Of God, Chimera and Meshuggah.

In conclusion, a powerful performance with dynamic progressions. The message and force that is created will cause a big impact on the listener. As many great bands are sometimes missed, be sure not to pass up the opportunity to check out Centrilia, you will not be disappointed.
