If you are looking for intense brutality with technical diversity then Lecherous Nocturne is the band you want to be listening to. LN "Behold Almighty Doctrine" is the latest album released through Unique Leader who also have many talented bands under their banner. The band has been creating their brand of brutality since 1997 and have perfected their craft to bring you eleven songs of pure mind bending face stomping death metal. Their last album "The Age of Miracles Has Passed" gain them much exposure through out the metal world and many shows to support their efforts. Continuing in this path of success the first track of the album Ouroboros Chains comes in with extreme onslaught of double kicks and riff frenzy setting the stage for the madness that's to come. Bring the Void, has some interesting mind altering riffs that defy comprehension yet achieve a level of brutal understanding that only LN fans have come to grasp. Archeopterix, has some cool mosh riffs, I can picture a hellish pit building up in a live atmosphere when I hear this track. Those Having Been Hidden Away, if you want to experience how talented the drummer (Alex Lancias) is, then this track has the dynamics that most musicians can only dreams of, with exact precision and speed that never drops in tempo, machine like technicality is the best I can describe, amazing. This is followed by a keyboard track "Prelude No. 2" that sounds like a mad genius still wearing the straight jacket and able to obtain a certain madness of notes. Lesions from Vicious Plagues, what a title and music will blow you away, Chris Lollis does an incredible job of obtaining brutal, guttural vocals and still retaining clarity as well as a unique sound that stands diverse from most death metal vocals. Creation Continuum is the last track before the Outro, it slows down enough to let your mind wrap around what you have just experience. The album is a testament to the bands progression to created complex, brutal, diverse and highly talented death metal. The album is bound to make big waves in the death metal world and will be hard to top. ~Artemortifica Lecherous Nocturne official Lecherous Nocturne FB
Formed last year in November, Eastfrisian Terror comes from Northern Germany. This EP is available on Eastfrisian Terror Youtube My first impression is wow, very cool death metal happening here, I am reminded of Terrorizer or Mortician. Excellent vocals - very high to low range with some brutal drums assaulting the senses. The first song "Leever Dot As Slaave" comes in grinding and then into some clean guitar which is a nice surprise to me. The title track has some nice mosh stomping riffs that will have the pit rolling for live situations. I can hear a Brutal Truth influence on these tracks but with a much higher level of production quality. Eala Frya Fresena, the last track, great style of composition, like the kind I grew up listening to when I was a kid, enjoying it very much, the drums are clear -guitars raw a guttural and vocs delivering low punishing assault. If you enjoy this you might also be interested in the other projects Tears of DecayTruth of BloodAnasarca and Necrobiosis I highly recommend this EP for fans of old school grind death metal. ~Artemortifica Eastfrisian Terror FB
Formed in 2007, Celtachor roots from Dublin, Ireland. A five piece ensemble with many talents fused to create some intense, deep and well thought out arrangements of Irish Blackened Folk metal. At the moment listening to their album on Celtachor Bandcamp. This is a pleasant surprise for me as the first track The Landing Of Amergin takes me into these musical escapes. The thing that captures my attention is the use of the flute or whistle as its stated on the bands site. It is well placed and fits the other instruments very well. The Battle of Tailtin emerges you in a war like atmosphere, like an ancient fight of intense proportions, if I knew something about Irish mythology I could elaborate further but I do not, so I will go based on my musical instincts and the lyrics that are provided. The Kingship of Bodb Dearg, an enchanting alluring composition, with so many different instruments you have to admire the production quality as everything is clear and well balanced through out. Sorrow of The Dagda, with clean acoustical precision beautifully arranged to come into this opus topping at almost 11 minutes and never a dull moment. An intriguing tale of murder a sorrowful journey of father and son, it keeps the listener intent with intrigue. Tar eis an Sihed, this track is probably my favorite, an instrumental of vast escape, a musical road for your mind to paint, the guitars and whistle fused in perpetual artistry, its is amazing to say the least. Conn of the Hundred Battles, unleashing the fury of ancient armies the drums storm in, the guitars create some very interesting harmonies on this song. Anann Ernmas Daughter, is the last song, its fast and brutal, fitting as this track is about the Goddess of Battle- Anann. This album has many layers to indulge any listener and much more if you take the time to read the lyrics, very involved in the content of the stories and fits perfectly in conjunction with their style. I highly recommend this album as there is much to explore in Celtachor. ~Artemortifica Celtachor FB Celtachor official
An incredible live performance from NYC November 20 2011. Featuring some of the best talent in the death metal underground. Steve Tucker on vocals, Novy (Ex-Vader/Behemoth), Flo Mounier on Drums, Rune Erickson on guitars, art concepts and direction by Nader Sadek. With a line up like that, this is bound to be an imprint in the metal world for years to come. Re:Awakening begins our journey into the dark realms, captivating our inner physic. Nigredo in Necromance, a haunting bass line leading us into black oblivion a raw impression of sadistic manifestation. Suffer, slams in with some interesting drum dynamics taking us on a madness of speed on guitars. Mechanic Adolatry, this track is a clear definition of what the artist Nader Sadek is envisioning with the music -a fusion of oil based society and mechanical technology erasing the very existence of humanity. The track is by far one of my favorites on this live performance, looking forward to listening to full production coming February 27th. Soulless is another furious track, we can hear the drums attacking with great velocity and precision that only Flo can accomplish, very impressive as always, there are some demonic chants over the vocals at times that will shriek through your spine and stay burnt into your brain without even realizing it. The arrangement on Soulless is unique in a way that you never know exactly where the riffs are leading you but end up being brutal and well stitched technical composition. Rusted Skin is a drum solo, we can hear the level of experience on this track, well thought out rhythms, clear and precise technique, the hits never loose timing, a very solid performer. Of this Flesh, brutal and crushing, double kicks drive this beast, the vocals are chilling, raw, deep yet clear enough to understand the lyrical content, the chorus line features some female vocals that hit a high range without distorting the song and giving it a distinct feel. Petrophilia is the last song on this album, touching on the oil/mechanical/greed aspect of things expressed through raw death metal performed by talented musicians in the craft. Lets consider for a moment that this is a live performance and I did not hear one mistake, that is incredible in itself, along with the artistical concepts (Nader Sadek) that brought these entities together, you will want to purchase this live performance and upcoming release later this month. ~Artemorbid Nader Sadek FB Nader Sadek info blog
Guilty But Mentally Ill is a band from Detroit Michigan. This is a song from their album Outta the Asylum, very impressive sound considering the fact most of todays music is overdone in production I am enjoying the simple no overproduction approach, just straight forward music with a no holds barred attack. They labeled themselves as a Rock band but on this particular track I hear a tinged of metal like early Accept or even Judas Priest. Looking on their sites, they have been making music since 2007 and you can hear very good chemistry between the instruments. There is something unique about the vocals although he has the high range in style, it does hold a distinct signature. The cover to this album is very cool, looks like a multi-personality mentally ill patient ghost apparition, well conceive and fits the band and music perfectly. I am looking forward to listening to the rest of this album. if you are interested in buying it you can check them out at their official site here GBMI official ~Artemortifica
The album starts with a track called Away, the vocals grab my attention and once the deeper vocal track comes in I can hear a Paradise Lost influence to this, for some reason I am also reminded of old Amorphis style vox like the ones heard on Privilege to Evil. The female vocal tracks are performed by Anastasia Pazana and on track two it features Tiffany Avdalas both are very skilled in their style and mixes well with the deeper vox which is hard to achieve. Onto "Live or Die" guitars are heavy but not so much that obscures any other instruments is a well mix between arrangements, I enjoy the bass line right in the middle, sounds clear and precise very memorable passage. Novembre starts, its hard to ignore My Dying Bride influence on this album which to me is a very good thing since I am MDB fan. This album was released in 2001 under Dark Wish Productions hailing from New Jersey and are currently a 3 piece band with their last release Tranquil Sorrows back in 2010. Promise You begins with a great riffs its instantly burnt into my mind, I like it very much, the bass lines complimented beautifully. Twilight has clean guitars reminiscent of early Anathema who is another band I like. A Day From You is the final track, overall a good experience to my ears the drums stay in good pulse through out allowing for the rest of the instruments to be well heard and understood. I recommend this album for fans of MDB, Paradise Lost and early Anathema.

Purvaja is a one man BM force from India. Having never heard any BM from that region of the world my ears are complete virgins to what its about to be experienced. This E.P. starts of with an interesting intro with some ghost like incantation. Next up "She who Devoured Raktabija" guitars are raw and clear, once the vocals start you begin to feel the BM influence on this track. Kali Tandav the start of this track has some really good drum samples happening, then build up into a Samael like style of riffs. I could only imaging the amount of hard work it took to accomplish this E.P. Rahul Das has a vast amount of creativity pouring out of his mind. Back in 2006 Rahul played in a full band and eventually wound up being the only man standing from the remnants of the project. You have to admire his conviction. The topics of lyrical content are on Vedic culture, Hindu Philosophy and mythology. Considering I never heard anything like that before it is a unique experience to me. "Dark Goddess Divine has lots of variety in it, you can hear some interesting compositions with BM infused to make it a song that stands on its own accord. Shava Sadhana takes you into a dark journey with some haunting vocals to guide you through this maze of eerie enchantment. "Worship Death" is a furious track, very heavy hitter to my ears, along with grinding fills on the drums. The last track leave us with a feeling of wanting to get back into the black abyss closing before us. Fans of Indian BM be sure to get yourselves a copy of this intriguing journey of an album. The E.P. will be released in March under Sonic Blast Media please visit their site for the official release of this CD. ~Artemortifica Purvaja FB
