Rotting Away - Rise from Decay

Here is a very interesting album for all you to investigate. Rotting Away is a Father/Daughter DM band from Reynosa, Mexico. They are brand new, got started in 2012 and released "Walking Dead: Infestation" one song C-DR demo released early 2012. Rise of Decay is a four song demo. All vocals are done by Iris Aguillon which are very impressive, you would not even realize its a young female creating such brutal low guttural sound. Guitars/Bass and Drums are composed by the father Uriel Aguillon  from the band Gutwrench. "Within Thy Curse" starts of with some interesting drum fills and low bass sound which is good.
Beholding The Horror reminds me of old Sepultura sound like Morbid Visions or Schizophrenia, when the solos come in they sound very well thought out, clear and imaginative. The Soul-absorbing Void, considering there are only two people handling the writing process, these compositions are very involved. Rise from Decay is the final track, I am left with the feeling of wanting to hear more, I really enjoy the solos, for being a demo this one one has good production, everything is audible, every instrument is balanced and easy to hear. I look forward to what the future holds for this project and hope they can perform live at some point and time. Check them on FB and Reverbnation on the links below this review, give them your support.

Manilla Road - Mysterium

Manilla Road has a long history of writing music and many albums to prove it. They released their first album in 1979 and have done countless shows over the decades. You can indulge in their rich history by visiting the official site Manilla Road Official site. It is a very well done site which seems to be maintain properly and full of information on the band. I could sit here and talk endlessly about all their accomplishments but I really want to concentrate on the their current release Mysterium. It is been released under Shadow Kingdom Records and starts of with "The Grey God Passes" the production is simple and cuts straight to the bare bones of the music itself, I enjoy this aspect, because of the fact that now days musicians have so many tools at their disposals that today's recordings are way overproduced having several layers of guitars, gates, etc.. I feel overproducing takes away from the music and looses originality as you continue to create digital copies of the original riffs. Having said that, I appreciate the simple quality and allows me to feel the music in its raw form. "Stand Your Ground" comes in with some aggressive drums and involved guitar licks. "Hermitage" reminds me of early Black Sabbath or Thin Lizzy. Hallowed be Thy Grave, interesting vocal style and content, I enjoy the fact I can understand all the vocals which is a rare thing to find in metal. The Fountain will be a classic, probably one of my favorite tracks from this album not only the content but the music is etched into my brain, it is a truly unique piece. Mysterium is the last track, a great way to end a unique experience and having enjoyed a long history of musicianship in all these songs. Look for Manilla Road on the Maryland Deathfest for this year as well as many other live events they have planned.

Krypts - Unending Degradation

The album cover is great, fields of death and desolation come to mind. Krypts is DM band from Finland and got their start in 2008. They have previous releases "Open the Krypts' demo 2009 and "Krypts" EP 2011. Coming from an area that spawn Sentenced, Abhorrence and Rotten Sound to name a few, Krypts writes no nonsense death metal. Perpetual Beyond is the first song, it has some deep sounding bass lines which are perfect fitting for the bloody canvas that is being painted here. Blessed Entwinement introduces us the low guttural vocals of Antti Kotiranta (ex-The Beheading and Self Hate). Dormancy of the Ancients, reminds me of old Grave or Gorefest, is very impressive to hear how deep and brutal the vocals can get, this works very well as I can hear the instruments are tuned down low.
Theirs first demo gained them much exposure through the underground world and this latest release shows how they have evolved as musicians both in playing and recording. Day of Reckoning is my favorite track from the disc, I enjoy the atmosphere created by the guitars, I do think the drum could be a bit more thought out, there are parts I hear that could use more drum dynamics. Beneath The Archaic, closes this album, with many aspects of old school DM apparent, it becomes an instant favorite for me since I grew up listening to this style. Fans of Gorefest, Sentenced, or maybe even Convulse should check this out, also give a listen to their other demo an EP.

Fiends At Feast - Towards the Baphomet's Throne

This is a five piece BM band from South bay area town of Santa Cruz, CA. The album cover is simple and embellishes the style of the compositions. Formed in 2008 and have an EP "Shadows of Extinction" in 2011. This new album is released by HPGD. We start of with a hellish intro leading us into the first track "After the gates of Hell" the raw BM style is evident from the first riff. With Blood and Vomit, some good harmonies on the guitars for this track and some interesting solos. I Am Death, I hear some interesting bass lines on this particular song. Walls of Worship, sick and shrieking vocals envelope chant like chords feeling the darkness of this track. From hell they Rise is probably my favorite track on this album it kind of reminds me of early Samael or Bathory, haunting and depressing guitar licks make this one to be remembered. A Despondent Theme to My Own Demise, well this was a very nice surprise, some good guitar melodies bring you to a dark catacomb in hell, very interesting to have this as part of the entire composition which also shows that they can achieve other musical compositions. Profecia Negra, spanish for Black Prophecy, this is song is good to headbang to, its got some fast and brutal riffs. Cold Grey Sky, is the last track, overall a very good BM experience, considering they are fairly new, I look forward to what they create in the future. I highly recommend this album for fans of old school style of BM and there is much to explore in Fiends At feast.

The Beyond - Frozebitepanzerfuck

Horror pain Gore Death productions is bringing us some raw/crust/punk/black metal in the incarnation that is The Beyond. Rooted in Central Pennsylvania and with diverse genre elements to indulge all fans, we start off with Roto -Cunt, well with a title like that, this is going to be a fun one to review, love the lyrics already and I hear the punk style right away. Next up "Goat Sodomizer' in this track we hear the Black metal influence pouring through with some good raw vocals.

G.G. Allin would be proud of this track "Cunt Sucking Cannibal' since I have listen to G.G. in the past I am familiar with this song, very cool to be able to hear it like this, great work here. Frozebitepanzerfuck comes in and I am reminded of  The Abyss or early Bathory, very good BM which transforms into punk, gotta love that, this band is not afraid to explore all elements, I enjoy this aspect of musical freedom and more musicians should take note. Attack of The Zombie Brigade has a Misfits style to it which is a good thing. Splatter House Maniacs, some shrieking high vocals start this one that will send shivers up your spine, loving the main riff and is probably my favorite track so far. Necro Overload, excellent music, I like the solos very much and the lyric content is fitting for a band that does not mind breaking the rules. The band also has a split Vinyl out The Beyond/The Lurking Corpses: Gross Encounters of The Sacrificial Rite be sure to check that out too. Exterminate Humanity is the final track, overall I enjoyed this album as it stand on its on accord and give the middle finger to all the standard genres out there.

Lecherous Nocturne - Behold Almighty Doctrine

If you are looking for intense brutality with technical diversity then Lecherous Nocturne is the band you want to be listening to. LN "Behold Almighty Doctrine" is the latest album released through Unique Leader who also have many talented bands under their banner. The band has been creating their brand of brutality since 1997 and have perfected their craft to bring you eleven songs of pure mind bending face stomping death metal. Their last album "The Age of Miracles Has Passed" gain them much exposure through out the metal world and many shows to support their efforts. Continuing in this path of success the first track of the album Ouroboros Chains comes in with extreme onslaught of double kicks and riff frenzy setting the stage for the madness that's to come. Bring the Void, has some interesting mind altering riffs that defy comprehension yet achieve a level of brutal understanding that only LN fans have come to grasp. Archeopterix, has some cool mosh riffs, I can picture a hellish pit building up in a live atmosphere when I hear this track. Those Having Been Hidden Away, if you want to experience how talented the drummer (Alex Lancias) is, then this track has the dynamics that most musicians can only dreams of, with exact precision and speed that never drops in tempo, machine like technicality is the best I can describe, amazing. This is followed by a keyboard track "Prelude No. 2" that sounds like a mad genius still wearing the straight jacket and able to obtain a certain madness of notes. Lesions from Vicious Plagues, what a title and music will blow you away, Chris Lollis does an incredible job of obtaining brutal, guttural vocals and still retaining clarity as well as a unique sound that stands diverse from most death metal vocals. Creation Continuum is the last track before the Outro, it slows down enough to let your mind wrap around what you have just experience. The album is a testament to the bands progression to created complex, brutal, diverse and highly talented death metal. The album is bound to make big waves in the death metal world and will be hard to top.
