Hammerforce - Access Denied

A six piece power/prog metal band from Russia. They got their start back in 2006 and have two other releases "Dice" 2009 and "Mass Media" single from 2011. This one is called Access Denied and they are releasing a song at a time until the actual release on March 27 2013. "I Am I" is the first song I lend my ears to, an epic start, you can tell its going to be very exciting from the first riffs. My mind automatically thinks Dream Theater, this is a good thing since I am a huge fan of DT. Some amazing synth work as I listen to it is played with as much talent as the guitar work and they compliment each other very well. "Templates For All" vocals are hitting great highs on this track almost reminiscent of Rob Halford style, drums are fast and accurate with a high levels of detail to compliment every note been played by the other instruments. "Wasted" is the third track released for this album, dual vocals in the first verses are a perfect fit for the attack that is to follow, all the elements of their talents are apparent on this track as every instrument is doing something different moment to moment but always remain within the furiosity of the composition. I recommend this album for fans of Dragonforce, Dream Theater or early Judas Priest.

Piranah - Crashing Down

Metal band Piranah just released a new album, "Crashing Down". Chris Higgins (Drums) was kind enough to let me check out a few tracks from it. So I am cranking up the volume and prepare myself for some intensity. Crashing Down is the title track, great production, guitars sound even and solid, vocals are easily understood which is a great quality to have since I don't have to dig for a lyric sheet. Next up is "Awaken The Dream", bass is doing some really cool riff work, it sticks in my head right away, its always cool for me to hear a bass player (Thorin Milliken) doing more than just hold a rhythm, very involved and enjoying the clarity of his bass sound. Snake Crawl, is an instant jam, some awesome dual vocals in the chorus part, I am definitely diggin it, nice solo towards the end. The band is from Nashville, TN and have shared the stage with Overkill, Warbringer, and Sacred Reich. Drug War comes in with a drum assault that will have the crowed slamming and headbanging from the moment they hear it. Thinking about what bands to compare them too, but they really got their own vibe happening, Pantera, early Motorhead or Anthrax are the closes I can think of. "Solid Ground" vocals do remind me a bit like Dee Snider for a minute but they do hold their own signature. A slamming track with very interesting changes, bass and guitar do some complex interchanges on this song. I recommend this album to all true metal lovers, I hope they come around my area because it would be great to see their live performance.

Nox Misery - Feature model #3 2/2013

Introducing Nox Misery: Artist, Model, Dancer- Exclusive Interview/pictures

Model: Nox Misery-Make up & Styling: Nox Misery-Photographer: Maschka-© Nox Misery, Maschka

1- What inspired you to do modeling? Was there a point early in you life that sparked your interest?
Well… once I thought it would be a great idea to have some new profile pictures. So I went out to a cemetery with a good friend of mine to make some photographs. I soon recognized that it was great fun to pose and to “play” with the scenery. That’s why I’ve registered myself in a German model community and soon I got some offers for shootings. And here we are!

2- Your style is in underground, goth, and metal, was there an event or moment that made you decide on this style?
I always felt kind of different to all other children… it was a little problematic, because they didn’t understand my way of thinking – of course they didn’t. I dressed black before I even knew about a thing called “Gothic Scene” or something else… Later, when I was 16 and going out, I saw the first Goths and… yeah, decided to keep on being myself. It was absolutely “fitting”.

3- Name some of your favorite music or bands?
Oh, let’s see… Marilyn Manson of course, then Suicide Commando and many many other great bands and musicians from every kind of music style – except Hip Hop and stuff.

4- Name some of your accomplishments or highlights of your career so far?
I think, my greatest accomplishments are my advanced skills of make-up artistic and designing and sewing clothes and jewelry.
There is one great highlight in my career so far… I was on the cover of the Dark Spy Magazine which is sold all over Europe. It was a major honor to me and also great fun.

5- Do you enjoy regular photoshoots? or ones where you get to play a character?
I always try to be myself. I don’t like cosplay things and stuff. I’d rather be myself, express myself with things I’ve produced and which originate from my mind. Yes, it’s exhausting sometimes. But it’s worth it!

6- What other interest do you have besides modeling?
I LOVE my little rabbit Jack. He brings so much fun in my life, I’ll never get rid of him ;) he’s my little sunshine. I also have some other hobbies… drawing, painting, listening to music, going out with friends, reading - of course and my newest one: collecting old books from my favorite author Richard Adams.

7- Are there any significant projects or events you are looking forward to in the coming months?
Oh there will be lots of new shootings and I can’t wait any longer! At the moment I’m working on the stuff for the next shoot which is really necessary. Poorly, it’ll take some time because it’s very time-consuming. Unfortunately I can’t give more information to you… it’ll be some kind of surprise ;)

If someone wants to shoot with me, BAVARIA, Germany, is where you can find me ;) Just send a message via Facebook if you’re interested. Nox Misery Facebook

Molllust - Schuld

Ready to experience Molllust, a six piece ensemble from Lelpzig, Germany, formed in 2010. This will also be my first introduction to Opera Metal. From the beginning there is so much happening, beautiful keyboards open the curtains to this journey into complex arrangements and well thought out melodies. The lyric content is in German so I cannot comment on it other than to say the voice is well practiced with high levels of pitch and pure elegance. Production levels are superb, there a several instruments aside from the typical ones, there is also violin, cello and piano, all are clear, balanced and blend harmoniously together in perfect audibility. The range of emotion from song to song is amazingly. Maintaining all the structures in the songs must be quite a task in a live performance situation which I am sure they do it with ease. Having little knowledge in this genre the only thing I can compare them to is maybe early Nightwish, Winterhymn or Turisas. Aufwind is my favorite track from the album the violin and keys do a beautiful dance in this song. Spiegelsee, has the heavy guitar tones and doubles kicks add a sense of intense emotion to it. Lied Zur Nacht, in this song there are dual vocals, male and female duet which blend perfectly together, a dramatic story is unfolding from the feels of the music, like a journey through vast seas. If the band ever tours the USA I would go see them in concert to experience all they have to offer. The album is amazing and is a pleasure to hear all the great talent combined, I think their style would reach vast audiences. Be sure to give them a LIKE on their FB and also check out their RN site to listen to excerpts from their album.

1- What inspired you to do modeling? Was there a point early in your life that sparked your interest?

2- You have a unique style, was there an event or moment that made you decide on your style?
- I remember that moment when I started to get into goth-styles and the music. It was in school when me and another girl (now one of my best friends) went to the same art-class and got to know each other. She was such a cute gothic-girl and we became friends. It was love at first sight, with her and the gothic-lifestyle.

3- Name some of your favorite music or bands?
 - My favourite band is Placebo, as you can see by my tattoos  I also love Depeche mode, Zola jesus and Combichrist for example. But I really like every type of music! I just have my favourite music like rock, pop and alternative electronic styles.

4- Name some of your accomplishments or highlights of your career so far?

- I never have any regular shooting. Everything I do is a special idea I had in my mind, sometimes I model my own characters.

Logic of Denial - Atonement

Atonement is the second full length album by DM band Logic of Denial. I finally got my chance to listen to this album and really wrap my brain around all the songs. The production is top notch, mastered at the well known Hertz Studios, who have done albums by Vader, Hour of Penance, Decapitated and more. Daniele Costa is playing precision rhythms and lightning fast double kicks on these tracks, very impressive sound and dexterity. Vocals are done by Mattia Gatti, plus a few other guest vocals by Claudio Miniati (Sickening) and Mariano Soma (Septycal Gorge). Brutality abound, aggressive passages and deep lyrical content. Guitarist Alessandro D'Antone does some amazing solo work and its got a clear warm sound when you hear it, its distinguishable. Good chops, chunky fills and sweeping arpeggios show a high level of skill. What I enjoy the most is the triplet mosh style modes that are done from time to time, not to much that would get tiring but just enough to make the songs distinct, a perfect example of this can be found on the song Apocrypha. The music never lets up from assaulting your ears with intense musical compositions. Oracles of Iniquity is by far my favorite track of the entire album there is much exploration in dynamics as far as the drums go and you can experience it at its fullest on this song. The album will go up in the halls of brutality along side some of the best ones. My only personal opinion is that there are a few movie samples in some songs which I have heard before in other albums by different bands and I am not much for listening to samples, I am more interested in the music, but that's just my own personal opinion. I highly recommend this for fans of intense, involved and technical death metal.

Hateure - Alustrousdanseur

Formed in 2007, they are a four piece band from the Philippines. The cover to this album is very interesting, looks like Picasso piece you might find in a art museum, its unconventional, since most album art these days is predictable and much look the same, so this one to me stands out. Now for the music. I must say it is as diverse as the cover. The first track is A Lustrous Danseur begins with a clean guitar that does not sound like anything I have ever heard, which is good, there are some interesting drum rhythms playing over this, giving it a tribe like effect. A Multi Kolored Krystal Ossifikation, heavy guitar comes in and I hear a Gojira style on these riffs. Anatomy of Crisis, very well written song, off time signatures along with some synth, I hear a Meshuggah influence on this particular track. If You Are Searching For a Meaning.. a long title here but the music makes up for it, some discorded effects are evident towards the middle and gives this song a much interesting feel. IL(Lust)Ration, I hear some distorted bass lines on this one plus off time signatures. Klearence Enter The Placebo, very cool rhythm section and clean guitar almost sounds like a Zittar on some moments. Opalescence, very cool title and involved riffing with high dynamic drums. Strabismik, probably my favorite song of the entire album, fast paced, full of brutality. We get to experience some solo work on this song. Subservient, closes my trip into the world of Hateure. A unique experience with twist and turns abound, much credit to these high talented young musicians creating involved vibes and stacking up against the likes of much older comrades. I recommend this album for fans of Gojira and Meshuggah.
