Visions of the Night vs.ReMechanized - Industrial Military Complex

Visions of the Night vs.ReMechanized is a one man project by Wolvesblood: Guitar/Vocals live guest performances by Rob Urbinati (track 1) Warhead (tracks 4 and 8) Jenn Kilburn (track 2) Session drums intro track Todd Hansen. Music style is listed as, Death/Black military inspired metal. Band location, Canada.

Industrial Military Complex album self released on January 2 2016. My initial thoughts on this release are, destructive sounds centered on war themes. The industrial drum sound is persistent through out the majority of this album. Guitars have a low tuned raw distortion. The music is definitely rooted in black/death metal, but they do have dissonant and haunting overtures that bring it into another realm.

Some of the bands that may be noted as an influence would be, N17, Ministry, Gorefest, Brutal Truth and Fleshcrawl. The opening song "War Is Our Religion", comes in at high velocity. Aggressive and devastating in its delivery. The song sets the tone for the rest of the album and punishes the senses. "Written In Blood", is another strong contender. It starts with a mind bending intro then hits you with penetrating drums. "Assaulting Fortress", the feeling here is that of an invasion of epic proportions and there are no survivors. My last pick will be "Gorillas Withing the Midst", a slow and cryptic intro builds up intensity and completely pummels you by the time you reach the end.

Final thoughts, raw energy and huge waves of industrial tones are projected. If you want to listen to something with relentless battery and war induced themes, then this is the album for you.

Verment - Death's Domain

Verment is a four piece band made up of Dustin Stockhoff -Guitar. Alex Hooper -Drums/Vocals. Eric Payne -Bass/Vocals. Nick Moeller-Guitar. Music style is listed as, Death metal. Band location, Cincinnati, OH.

Death's Domain Ep to be self released on April 1st, 2016. My first thoughts are, excellent production and savage riffs are a recipe for maximum aggression. Presented here are seven potent compositions of pure and brutal d/m. I have to say that this is one of the heaviest promos I have reviewed for the month of March. Dual vocal attack, both high and low screams are well executed through out the entire album. A stomping bass tone provides a solid ground to lay down the gore. There is no shortage of violence and the music is going to crush your cranium.  Every track gets your blood boiling.

Some of the influence that might be noted would be bands like, Terrorizer, Death, Sinister, Malevolent Creation and Decapitated. Among my favorite songs from this release would be "Wings of Bone", savagery at a high level. "Obsolescence Reality", comes in with a short and haunting intro that leads us into certain death.

Final thoughts, the Ep absolutely slays. The band manages to set a frequent level of extreme sound. If you enjoy punishment dealt to you with a relentless attack, then this will be perfect for you.

Megascavenger - As Dystopia Beckons

Megascavenger is a two piece band made up of Rogga Johansson - Guitars, Bass, Vocals
Brynjar Helgetun - Drums and several guest featured. Music style is listed as, Death Metal.
Band location, Sweden.

As Dystopia Beckons album released on Selfmadegod Records March 1st  2016. My initial thoughts are, this release offers a wide variety of death metal and does it in the most brutal way. Pure punishment is delivered from the opening track. Each song creates its own characteristics and keeps the listener engaged to the music.

The first songs "Rotting Domain" features (Sven Gross of Fleshcrawl)
"The Machine That Turns Humans Into Slop" featuring (David Ingram of Hail of Bullets, Echelon, ex-Benediction, ex-Bolt Thrower) they are the heavy hitters. Definitely rooted in the brutal death spectrum. Very powerful and destructive. "As The Last Day Has Passed", is a different track, more on the melodic end, thinking of bands like early In Flames or At The Gates, well executed and energetic. "Dead Rotting And Exposed", this song brings some grinding beats and harsh guttural vocals. Very intense in its delivery and dishes out a good amount of octane. "Steel Through Flesh Extravaganza", now this track resembles and early Fear Factory feeling in its introduction, then morphs into a Ministry type of blast beat. The closing and title track is menacing and haunting, like a sci fi horror film unleashing mech robots into a dark void. It sets a dark atmosphere and is much different than the other compositions.

Final thoughts, this album is powerful, its many facets and sounds keep things interesting. The brutality and force are always there no matter what other elements are mixed in. A solid performance is delivered and the metal underground fans will not be disappointed.

Spektralaeon - Crushing The Monolith

Spektralaeon is a one man band consisting of Uraeus. Lead guitar performances credited to Sean Currington. Music style is listed as, black/death metal. Band location, Wisconsin.

Crushing The Monolith EP self released on March 1st 2016. My initial thoughts are, a solid and powerful wave of sonic intensity. To my unsuspecting ears the music comes flowing at a high velocity. Being a debut ep, it is impressive to hear the level of aggression persisting from riff to riff. Great production quality with a solid drum sound.

Unleashing fury with the song "Entropic Dystopia", the intro slowly builds up and then suddenly the blast beat hits you and you know your in for a brutal ride. Cryptic low guttural vocals magnify the force. Arrangements that are well stitched patterns of both black metal and death metal roots. One of the things I enjoyed in this particular song were the rapid solos. Memorable and well conceived. Next up is, "Deviant Scion", heavier and more dynamic than the first song and features another style of vocals reminiscent of Simen Hestnæs from early Dimmu Borgir days. The last and title track is "Crushing The Monolith", it is punishing and it is a perfect way to close out this release. If I may note some influence, I would say, Ad Noctum, The Cold Beyond, Demonic Christ and Black Witchery.

Final thoughts, a short but monumental Ep. The music delivers high energy from all directions. You can sample the release right from the BC link embedded on the post below. Be sure to also visit the band at their FB site also provided below.

VIRULENCY - The Anthropodermic Manuscript of Retribution

VIRULENCY is a four piece band made up of, DisJorge - Fretless Bass and Guitars
J. - Vocals. Fabio "Dr. Grinder" Ramirez - Drums. Asier Badiola - Guitars. Music style is listed as, Virulent Brutal Death metal. Band location, Basque Country / Madrid.

The Anthropodermic Manuscript of Retribution album released on New Standard Elite February 28th, 2016. The eye catching artwork reveals a towering beast straight out of some maniacal horror sci-fi film. Just one look and you can already start to imaging the great amount of brutality that is contained in this album.

The opening track delivers a smashing blow and sets the pace for relentless battery. This is a heavy and furious music that is sure to cause massive shockwaves in the underground community. The drums bring rapid and precise double kicks and complex rhythms of pure energy. If I may note some influences, I would say bands like Defeated Sanity, Devourment, Suffocation and Immolation. A good assortment of slam beats are also presented. The guttural vocals are intense and there is no shortage of aggression.

This is the bands first full length album. Fans have been waiting for this since the last released ep back in 2012 "Unbearable Martyrdom Landscapes". They had a short two song promo release in 2013. This a welcomed and anticipated album and it delivers maximum devastation.

Final thoughts, the music punishes the senses with unthinkable fury. After experiencing this album, you will probably be picking up fragments of your shattered skull caused from the power that resonates from the speakers.

Sacrilegium - Anima Lucifera

Sacrilegium is a four piece band made up of, Armeus -Drums. Suclagus-Guitars/Bass. Aleksandra Keyboards. Nantur Aldaron-Vocals. Music style is listed as, Pagan Black Metal. Band location, Poland.

Anima Lucifera album to be released on Pagan Records March 18 2016. This band got their start in 1993 and went dormant after 2000. After thirteen years they somehow collaborated to bring us this latest release. My initial impression is, pure and skull crushing black metal. A natural sounding recording. The album does not waste any time and gets right to the madness. Rooted in traditional rhythms and arrangements of the early black metal days. They execute each song in a menacing manner. Like beckoning of demons from the depths of the swirling abyss. Along with haunting, cryptic intros and outros. They offer dissonant melodies and subtle sounds that seemed to come from another planet. Of the eight savage tracks, the ones that managed to carve themselves into my mind would have to be,"Mare Tenebrarum" the composition reminds me of the band Mayhem in some aspects. It has rapid blast beats and spine shaking vocals. A couple of others that make a lasting impression would be, "Venomous Spell of Fate" and "Desiderium Immortalis".

Final thoughts, a finely carved piece of material. If you enjoy powerful b/m with melodic soundscapes and haunting overtures then this will be perfect for you. Be sure to check out the link below and find out when the music will be released.
