Warforged announce full length I: Voice via The Artisan Era on May 10th

Warforged announce new album I: Voice coming May 10 on The Artisan Era

The promo states:
Every so often, a band comes along that generates praise and attention for all the right reasons, and, not always due to having a label or marketing power behind them. Chicago, Illinois-based progressive death metal group Warforged achieved that with their completely independently released 2014 EP, Essence of the Land. An effort rightly lauded far and wide not just by the underground, but also by larger outlets such as Metal Injection, Metal Sucks, Heavy Blog Is Heavy, No Clean Singing, and just as widely praised by death metal fans as well. The group generated massive buzz purely off the strength of their innovative music then, and are finally ready to return with a follow up worthy of building upon the strong foundation Warforged established previously on that release and on their standalone near eight-minute 2015 single, "Two Demons".

Several years in the making, Warforged is proud to officially announce the upcoming May 10th release of their new full-length album, I: Voice through The Artisan Era. If Essence of the Land was the metal scene's entrance into the group's boundary-shaking brand of progressive death metal enhanced by black metal, then I: Voice is its worthy successor that sees the group diving deeper into expansive terrain both harsh and light driven by theatrical flair and packed with densely packed compositions drawing from worlds old and new in order to create their own style of death metal that seems to inhabit its own world in and of itself.

The cover art for I: Voice was handled by renowned artist Samuel Nelson (Stigma Art) who previously worked with the band to create the artwork for their prior 2014 release and is well-known for his album art crafted for groups such as First Fragment, Virvum, Un, and many more. The release is supported by numerous high-profile guest spots from seasoned metal musicians including Gorguts guitarist Kevin Hufnagel, ex-Exivious/ex-Cynic guitarist Tymon Kruidenier, Alkaloid guitarist Christian Münzner, Artificial Brain vocalist Will Smith along with his bandmate and Revocation guitarist Dan Gargiulo, Narcotic Wasteland/ex-Nile guitarist Dallas Toller-Wade, Native Construct/Replacire guitarist Poh Hock, Entheos drummer Navene Koperweis on a guest guitar spot, and many more.

It's no coincidence so many of the extreme metal worlds best players were on board to contribute something to I: Voice, as it speaks directly to the quality of the release and the bands unique sound. I: Voice will strongly appeal to fans of Opeth, Portal, and Lantlos as primarily cited by the band.

Stay tuned for the first single to air next week and additional content to continue to be unveiled leading up to the release. For now, the band has crafted a unique guitar medley playthrough driven album teaser video for I: Voice which can be viewed through the following link below.

Warforged comments on the upcoming release of I: Voice
I: Voice” is the sum of 5 years of creativity and focused work. The music plays as a stream of consciousness - jumping often from one area of the metal spectrum to the next with recurring melodies and vibes throughout for the purpose of bringing about an overwhelming sense of nostalgia. Since Essence Of The Land & "Two Demons" came out, we worked to build upon and elaborate on our musical style and mission statement. From what started as an idea of modern death metal with hints at black metal evolved into a more progressive, unique, and “epic” ethos. Horrifying & beautiful, dynamic & aggressive, harmony found through dissonance, an ebb and flow through drama and resolution, a flirtation with memory, a call for collaboration, personality, and reality  - immense emotional energy seamlessly woven within the death metal genre.

A new school of old school death metal. Creating death metal that is authentically new while have a natural memory and understanding of the old. Rooted in early 90's progressive death metal, but with an unrelenting forward thinking approach, CONTRARIAN return with their third full-length release Their Worm Never Dies.

Spearheaded by guitar player Jim Tasikas, alongside George Kollias (Nile) simultaneously handling drum and vocal duties, CONTRARIAN is not a super group, but a unit of like-minded musicians that coincidentally converged on a vision of what a modern death metal band should sound like.

Organic sounding, yet aggressive and melodically complex, Their Worm Never Dies is packed with snake-like Schuldinerian-style riffage and atmospheric variations that will provide a wholly enticing listen to all those willing to take in its eccentricity.

The band previously released videos for "Exorcism" (video) and "My Curse" (Video).

"Progressive tech-death that bridges the divide between Death, Cynic, and new school manifestations Obscura and Beyond Creation."
 - Decibel

"CONTRARIAN's sound pays homage to the Tech/Progressive Death Metal forefathers DEATH, ATHEIST, CYNIC. The musicianship is excellent, the compositions are tight, and you have to love the riffs."

 - Twenty Red Metal Nails

Exclusive interview with the band Negative Wall

Greetings readers, please give a warm welcome to the band Negative Wall from Atlanta Georgia;

Tommy Stewart (bass, vox) Dennis Reid (drums, vox) Don Cole (guitar, vox)

1- Hello and welcome to Metal Music Midwest, first off, thanks for taking the time to do the interview, could you give our readers a brief description of the group? Where is the band from?

(Tommy Stewart)- Negative Wall is from Atlanta, Georgia, USA! We're a three piece metal band writing science fiction stories and applying them to a blues style within a doom metal frame. For instance, the song entitle Imperii Exsules was inspired by a sixties Outer Limits TV show episode called The Zanti Misfits.

2- Gammagelu is the band's first full album, how long did it take to write?

TS - This is an interesting question. From first practice to a finished master took fourteen days. We came to the first rehearsal and jammed out the songs to write the music. That took seven days. Then we went into my studio and recorded the instrument tracks. I had some partially written ideas about the lyrics, but mainly sat down and recorded myself alone doing the vocals and completed the lyrics simultaneously. The mastering happened overnight and there it is. 14 days from band's first rehearsal to completion of album.

3- What musical influence inspires the bands compositions?

TS - All three of us are very different in many ways, but have a lot in common too. I think this was a case of us bringing different influences that were almost similar to the table. Don Cole, guitarist, brought in some very bluesy guitar style that is highly featured throughout the mix because he is so amazing. Dennis Reid is not the most complex drummer, but he sure can pound them hard and he tends to play exactly what I would have asked him to play. I'm a huge doom fan, but I probably encouraged a bit of a Pink Floyd feel to show up.

4- The group started in 2018, can you tells us how did you meet?

TS - We've all known each other for years and played together in various situations. Dennis and I have also played in Bludy Gyres and Tommy Stewart's Dyerwulf together. I came from Hallows Eve and the other two knew me from listening to that band originally.

5- The new album title is Gammagelu, can you give us details about the content and more in depth meaning to this title?

TS - It is rough Latin meaning the ice or frost of gamma. Like some of my lyrics, it's part of invented language that gets the feel or image across by it's sound, not so much it's precise meaning.

6- Each member of this project is part of another band, how do you maintain a good balance working together?

TS - First, we do enjoy each other's company so we work well together. Also we handle our music careers seriously and  know we have to get it done because we're all busy. Scheduling and be serious about respecting each other's time is very important and we do that well.

7- Have you performed any shows in your area? if so, how receptive and supportive are the people to your music?

TS - We've only performed one show and it was a blast! We had our black and white lab scene backdrop behind us, all white lights only, dirty lab coats, and make up to make us look like we're in black and white TV. So we look like we are in 'black and white'! I gathered cell phone footage of it and made a video of it. You can find it on youtube and here is the link:

8- Are there any upcoming shows or tours you can tell us about?

TS - We're planning on some shows during Fall 2019 in the USA.

9- Thanks for your participation, finally, what is the best way to get a hold of the band, in case someone wants to book or promote the band? Any final words?

TS - Thank you for the interview, I appreciate being able to explain some things! You can contact Negative Wall at tstew667@gmail.com or hear and contact at negativewall-bandcamp. Another good source is blackdoombarecords

METALITALIA Festival 2019 first bands announcement

The Metalitalia.com Festival team – Metalitalia.com, Vertigo and Eagle Booking Live Promotion – is very proud to reveal the dates and the first confirmed acts of the 2019 edition of the festival, which will take place once again at the Live Music Club in Trezzo sull’Adda (Milan), Italy.

This time the event will take place over two days in spring: on Saturday 1st June and Sunday 2nd June.

We're still working on various other things behind the scenes which we'll bring to you in due course, including the side programme and of course the full line-up and day schedules. In the meantime, we're extremely happy to be adding some cool bands to the festival with this announcement.

DAY 1 – Saturday, 1st June

The headlining act of the first day of the festival will be Sweden's ARCH ENEMY! The Michael Amott led band, recently brought to the apex of his success by the charismatic singer Alissa White-Gluz is without a doubt one of the leaders of the modern thrash-death metal scene. ARCH ENEMY will be joined by Italian symohonic death metal masters FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE, who are about to release a new and highly anticipated album. The band will perform with an impressive production in an exclusive show on Italian soil.
Never the most prolific of bands, nor the most well-known, nevertheless DARKANE have offered some of the most intelligent thrash-death metal throughout the years. For the occasion, the Swedish band will play their masterpiece "Rusted Angel" in its entirety!

DAY 2 – Sunday, 2nd June

The second day of the event will be fully dedicated to hard rock and classic metal. The bill will be topped by Swiss hard rockers GOTTHARD: the band boasts a big following in Italy and they will come down to Milan for a very special show. Co-headliners of this second day will be Sweden's HARDCORE SUPERSTAR, who are absolute masters at mixing sleaze, glam, metal and catchy choruses.
Finally, we are pround to announce another piece of metal and rock history: Phil Campbell, the legendary guitarist of MOTÖRHEAD, who shared the stage with Lemmy for 32 years, will join us for an an explosive show based on recent cuts from his new album under the PHIL CAMPBELL AND THE BASTARD SONS banner and many MOTÖRHEAD hits!

Once again, please stay tuned for more details and news!
