Described as Atmospheric Ambient Black Metal, not much info on this release, seems to me a one man project . There is a logo Conceptmachine IA on the cover so I will assume that's the label. Year maybe 2011. I really like the art on the cover too, excellent work. Now for the music, first up is Winterbound Act 1, a great mood and atmosphere is created by the acoustic style of playing along with some background aesthetics. "The Secret Long Watch of the Daemon Sentinel", long name, great track filled with different sounds to give a chaotic environment. Cross of the Antichrist, the vibe the surrounds this song is engaging and captivating- a perfect mix of different sounds to take your mind into a dark realm. Atra Biblica, like vast ocean of despair. Act 3 starts of with what sounds like a storm approaching a desolate island, acoustic sound is clear and well arranged. A good example of how deep and involve the songs can get can be found in The Great Dning, this track is probably my favorite and does feature some vocals that are obscure done in BM style. Act 4 sounds like traveling through a forest full of void and despair, again the clean guitar captivates the listener into forming their own visualization in their mind, great song. The last song is In Rotting Glory, it is a good way to end the entire album a really captures all the great ambient sounds that can be found through out the disc. Much of the content can be found on Youtube and also FB site which I will provide the links for below. Overall I recommend this album for all those seeking a long journey through dark paths and deep sounds. ~Artemortifica facebook.com-SVARTALV-Official
Released on Dark Meadow Recordings on July 2011. Through research I found out the label is no longer around. Not sure how many members. On the FB site the music is described as Experimental/Industrial/Metal. Interesting way to title the songs as they are all part of a sentence beginning with "I Am The Void Cold And Dark" then dropping a word from the sentence in the following tracks. We hear a sample on the opening song about a society and the depression suicide effects of its environments, at least what I understood from it at first listen. Track two is heavy on the bass and guitar or might be just distorted bass with obscure type vocals. Track three, a creepy and bone chilling start, like walking through a dark cold void. Track four another sample that leads into a composition that does have some drums and synth like tones. Track five, a very enjoyable song, it set a huge and epic atmosphere, captivating and enthralling by far my favorite on this disc. Track six, flange like effect with crazy BM style vocals appearing in the background. Track seven " I", which ends the sentence, it's full on all sorts of sounds, creating a chaotic journey. The next round of songs are a sentence in reverse. Starting with "Time", well this is crazy sounding -an auction speaker that sounds like a robot at time builds into an immense wall of chaos, that's the best I can describe it. "Time is", clean guitar, ah now this is pleasant to my ears, like a horror film, I can imaging walking through a dark forest or through a haunted house, very well written. The final track that completes the sentence "Time is Nothing but an Illusion Shattered", dismal sounds with a solitary guitar creating ambient landscapes and enchanting horror style of passages. Overall I ended up really immersing myself in all the melodies and chaos. Check out the bands links to get more info. I recommend for those people seeking long dismal journey and sound-escapes. ~Artemortifica
This is a compilation album consisting of songs from the time period of 2007 and 2010. A one man band that is Lord Hastner - guitars, voices; occasional drums & keyboards programming and some remastered by Mictan on "Estrangement demo 2008. The project is describe as atmospheric black/ epic Death Metal. Old Melancholy is the opening track, keyboards with an enchanting captivating melody which I enjoy right away. Forgotten Hope, the drums sound really good considering they are programmed. an enjoyable song with interesting riffs. "The Last Day of Mankind", a thunderous opening- battle like drums great track. "Mighty Black Inner Flame", tranquil and melodic keys lead us into this song and aggressive BM onslaught. Mesmerized By Blood, howling wolfs take up a backing on this song like pack of mad wolfs in a winter's fury. Raw Symphony of Sorrow, somewhat repetitive opening in a mid pace riff. Undying Darkness, spoken word in BM style of singing, the drums and guitar do not match very well on this track. To Forgotten Path Triumph of the Will, bass line is great not sure what to think of the rhythm section until there is a change up. Thy Blood in My Veins, very raw guitar sound and scattered beats. Black Sorrow, an epic type of atmosphere building. A dark tale unfolding, haunting samples, an eerie journey. Funeral Future Bells, a well executed composition and the title is fitting. Primordial Darkness part 1, this track is nine minutes long and is pretty much all the elements that are contained in the entire album through out. Primordial Darkness part 2, has another epic and haunting start- a great way to lead us on another chaotic aventure. This one only an instrumental and guitars have a fuller distorted sound. The last is the title track and also an instrumental, we hear a better distorted and fuller bass sound on this song. Overall a good album for those seeking raw BM/atmospheric haunting music this album is worth a spin. ~Artemortifica metal-archives-Deviator/Way of Warriors facebook.com DeviatorOfficial
The 7th Offensive is the brand new album release by Panzerchrist on Listenable Records. Members are Panzergeneral: Bass , Søren Tintin Lønholdt: Vocals , Nils Petersen: Guitars , Simon Schilling : Drums. If war metal is what you want then look no further. The title track starts of with an eerie sounding sample then into fast hammer-on pull-off work on the guitar. "Foreign Fields", the opening riff seems to go on for a while, once the change up happens a cool fill comes into play that stays in my mind. "In The Name of Massacration", reminds me of old Amorphis or Benediction, some interesting sweeping arpeggios happening on this song. "Stronghold of Hill 666", great title. I picture a massive war in hell with several battalions decimating everything in sight. "Dogger Dead", brutal and aggressive assault, stomping rhythms guttural vocals. Like getting smashed in the face severely. A great mosh pit destroyer for sure. "Mass Attack of The Lychantrope Legion", envisioning a long journey seen through the eyes of a soldier on bloody fighting fields, a great song with a constant melody. "Kill for Revenge", basic but clear and to the point, solid double kicks on the drums. "Drone Killing", this composition stays the same for several measures until the very end when the guitars finally do some solo work plus we hear some keys but just slightly. Napalm Alarm", like a machine gun on constant fire, eradicating everything in its path. "Pig Parade", nice title, battle like samples are expressed, a march taking place, distant battle drums. Overall this album is good and I recommend for fans of war, battle, marches and any destructive type of sounds. ~Artemortifica facebook.com/panzerchristofficial
Arceye: death/thrash metal band from Shrewsbury UK. Consisting of four members, Al Llewellyn - Vocals/Bass, Dave Roberts - Guitar/Vocals, Luke Durston - Guitar/Vocals, Craig Mackay-Drums/Samples. "At First Light", is the brand new album released on Hostile Media August 7 2013. The title track begins with a clean guitar with a gradual build up into fast drums an a fast solo to warm us up. "The Storm", death metal is evident - the riffs are well thought out in this song in particular, although they have a familiar vibe they are played in such a way that keeps your mind intent. "The Longest Drive", intriguing from the start, love the clean progression, this takes right into "I Silently Wait", at first I thought it would just blast through but then it turned into something much more interesting musically. I found myself paying attention to what exactly the rhythms were doing, very good song- I do here a Lamb of God influence on this track, which is a good thing since I am a LOG fan. "Sirius", more mellow paced on the opening, this song is different than the others, melodic and memorable composition, its good to know this album has clean to heavy fast paced passages. I will say Sirius is my favorite song thus far. "Brother Disarmed", interesting title. You can feel the thunderous double kick work by Mr. Craig Mackay assaulting rhythms and solid dynamics. I also like the vocalization, we get a good blend of high, mid, and low. "Prey Forgiveness", trying to keep up with the flurry of notes the begin on this song is mind bending and well executed. "Damage Done', very different from the the rest proving once again the diverse talents these musicians have- if I had to compare this song to something I would have to say CYNIC, clean vocals are awesome and hold their own unique style. The band has been around since 2004 and also have a previous release ‘The Divide Between Chaos & Order' from 2009. Overall I really enjoyed this album and found myself intrigue by the variety and character each song exhibits. These are some very talented individuals who together create a destructive yet melodic musical force. ~Artemortifica

A self released album from February 21 2013. Averse Concept is a BM project consisting of two members: Farace (Vox,guitar, bass) and Lujan (drums) residing in Philadelphia US. Symbol of Loss is an EP which starts of with "Grey Skies", really enjoying the way this sounds, clean guitar with a slight effect, creates a darken feeling at sets the atmosphere for "Welcome to the Trance", now we hear the BM influence coming through, guitars are raw in true obscure style. "Resigned Devotion", the opening riffs is great, it really stays in my mind. Vocals are somewhat different on this song as they go from screaming to BM style- which I enjoy. "Desolate Alleviate", haunting intro leading us into a dark void of despair. Drums are doing some solid kicks -although they sound a bit in the background than the other instruments, not a big deal it still kicks ass. "Clouded Recovery", guitar with a heavy effect creates a dismal and eerie feeling. This track is faster paced than the others but still sticks to the raw BM feeling. Overall I enjoyed this EP and would like to hear more from them in the future. Be sure to check them out on FB link I am providing at the bottom. ~Artemortifica facebook.com/Averseconcept
