An exclusive interview with the band After Infinity and their upcoming release A Game Of Chess

 1- Hello and welcome to Metal Music News and Interviews. Our readers are excited to get to know you and your band. Could you give us a brief description of the group? Where is the band from?

Hey! After Infinity is a new Finnish heavy/power metal band. Our music is a nice combination of heavy riffs, catchy melodies and symphonic orchestra with some unexpected twists here and there.

2- "A Game of Chess" is the band's upcoming single. How long did it take to compose and record it?

We started writing songs for the upcoming album in 2021. Once all the songs were ready and demoed, we recorded most of the instruments in the summer and autumn of 2022. The last recordings took place in the spring of 2023, and we went into mixing. A Game of Chess was the third song we mixed, and soon after it was finished we decided to master and release it to give people the first taste of AI!

3- What musical influences inspire the band's compositions?

We love how Dream Theater combines heavy and melodic elements in their music, so that's one big influence. Also, some Finnish bands that rule our metal scene at the moment such as Beast in Black and Arion.

4- Can you tell us how did the members all meet?

Zsolt Szilagyi, our songwriter, basically invited all his best musician friends he had worked with in the past to work on the album. The album also features some singers he didn't know personally but had heard on records he enjoys listening to. We're so honored they too agreed to sing on the record!

5- The new song title is "A Game of Chess". Tell us the details about the content and a more in-depth meaning to this title?

The lyrics were written in spring 2022, and were influenced by some events taking place at that time in Europe. It tells the story of someone who is forced to be a pawn in someone else's game of chess against their will.

6- Are the current members of this band part of another band or project? Or is everyone dedicated solely to the group? How do you maintain a good balance working together?

 Everyone has some other bands or projects: Zsolt and Nitte has Dreamtale, there are some people from the band Everfrost involved, and so on. We are all very dedicated to music, so we make sure there is enough time for all our projects, which is not always easy! Knowing that it will take some time to finish our debut album, we didn't unveil our band before we were pretty far with the production.

7- Have you performed any shows in your area? If so, how receptive and supportive are the people of your music?

Not yet, but we are very excited to take this material on the road and see the reactions.

8- Are there any upcoming shows or tours you can tell us about?

There is nothing to reveal at this point, but we do plan to tour after the album is finished.
