Dreamgrave - Presentiment
Dreamgrave is six piece ensemble from Hungary, Szeged. Members are Dömötör Gyimesi (vocals, guitars), János Mayer (keyboards), Mária Molnár (vocals), Ádám Kovács (guitars), Domonkos Altorjay (drums), Márton Attila Kovács (bass). Genre is described as progressive dark metal.
Presentiment released independently on October 15th 2014. This release contains eight tracks. My first thoughts are, this is melodic, complex and very progressive song structures. One of the things that perked my ears was the vocals of Maria Molnar, she has an excellent voice and it blends well with the death metal style growls. By no means is this a new thing, I have heard bands with a similar style before, like Therion, Epica, Within Temptation and several others but I do enjoy how good that sounds on this album. One of the songs that stuck out in my mind the most would have to be the song Presentiment 2, it is an amazing and epic melodic piece which is mostly stringed instruments and vocals but the melody stays with me long after the song is finished. False Sense of Confidence contains a variety of styles from death metal to blues to progressive all stitched together flawlessly.
In terms of production, with all the instruments involved the sound always remained intense and clear. Drums very powerful and dynamic. Keyboards, violin, guitar and bass all at good levels through out the entire album. I recommended for fans of death metal, metal, progressive and melodic genres. There's something to enjoy in each track. ~Artemortifica

Battleroar - Blood of Legends
Battleroar is a six piece band from Athens, Greece. Genre describe as Heavy/Epic/Powermetal. Members are Gerrit Mutz - vocals, Stavros Aivaliotis - Bass, Alex Papadiamantis - Violin, Nick Papadopoulos - Drums, Antreas Sotiropoulos - Guitars, Kostas Tzortzis - Guitars.
Blood Of Legends album released through Cruz Del Zur Records on May 6 2014. Epic and adventurous are the feelings I got the first time I listen to this album. If battles of the ancient times needed a soundtrack this would be most fitting. Even in the opening track "The Swords Are Drawn", there is a wealth of progressive passages and catchy solos. Every instrument compliments each other perfectly. Its good to hear the violin (Alex Papadiamantis) on many of the tracks which adds another layer to explore in all the arrangements. Vocals can be best described as a cross between James LaBrie (Dream Theater) and Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden). The guitars are progressive and have great tone. The solo work is creative and never over the top allowing for the rhythm sections to flow through. The track Immortal Chariots is one of my favorites from this album, it reminds me of the old school style of metal I listen to back in the early nineties like Manowar or Intruder (Escape From Pain).
The Curse of Medea features an intense and memorable intro, highly recommend to listen to. Violin is a big highlight on this song.
In conclusion, each composition is an adventure and has a solid production. The music lives up to the Epic feeling described. The arrangements come through with perfect precision and clarity. I recommend this album for fans of power/progressive metal to add to their collection.

Vesperia - An Olden Tale
Vesperia is a four piece band from Canada. Members are Morgan Rider (Vocals, Bass), Casey Elliott (Guitar), Frankie Caracci (Guitar), Cory Hofing (Drums). Genre described as epic viking metal. Their latest full length album is "An Olden Tale" released in early 2013.
The band has been around since 2005 and also released a full-length in 2011 titled ‘Voyage from Vinland and 2012 demo ‘The Swordsman.
The new album begins with the track "1000 Years Ago" and sets a feeling of adventure and exploration. "With Omens of Sorrow", thunders in with some solid double kick work by drummer Cory Hofing. The vocals are aggressive and exhibit several ranges from low growl to high (black/metal style) pitch. One of my favorite songs is Bring Me The Triumph, this composition features a wide field of elements from heavy death metal style riffing to the folk metal arrangements and to tie it all together with very memorable solos. The title track "An Olden Tale" builds an epic atmosphere and give the listeners a well rounded idea of musical arrangements the band is capable of.
The album has lots to offer from folk, viking, death, and even slight B/M style blast beats. Many listeners in the metal underground will find something to enjoy in every track. Be sure to catch them live for their first show of 2014 which will take place April 4th 9pm at The Atria, 59 King St E. Oshawa, Canada
