Burn The Ocean exclusive interview

1- Hello and welcome to Metal Music News and Interviews. Our readers are excited to get to know you and your band. Could you give us a brief description of the group?! Where is the band from?

Hi, we are a Heavy Rock band from Genoa, Italy. Our music is heavily inspired by 90’s top bands like Soundgarden and Alice In Chains and also carries some influences from metal and stoner genres because of our musical past which is spanned through a twenty-plus years career in music.

2- “Modern Ruins" is the band's second full album. How long did it take to compose and record?

It took us nearly four years because of the forced pause due to the pandemic and because of some line-up changes that heavily influenced the sound and alchemy of the band.

3- What musical influences inspire the band's compositions?

I would say 90’s scene, metal as a general approach to aggressive sounds and stoner.

4- The group started in 2014. Can you tell us how did the members all meet?

Emanuele and I met when our relative bands actually disbanded. I was the singer of a Death Metal band, and Emanuele had his band with the former drummer and bassist who are not part of the band anymore. His band played some sort of stoner/hard rock, so we studied each other influences to craft what is now Burn The Ocean's signature sound.

5- The new album title is Modern Ruins. Tell us the details about the content? and a more in-depth meaning to this title?

The lyrics of the album are influenced by the moral decay of modern society. Time runs quickly and I think that society was made and thought to evolve but it seems that the future and our present are going quite in the opposite way.

6- Are the current members of this project (band) part of another band or project? Or is everyone dedicated solely to the group? How do you maintain a good balance working together?

We are currently focusing only on this project. I also run a recording studio in my hometown (Blackwave Studio) in which the album was actually recorded. This makes me the only member who really lives and relies to music for its income. The other members have regular jobs and use their anger and heavy stress to fuel the fire of the band.

7- Have you performed any shows in your area? If so, how receptive and supportive are the people of your music?

Alongside many other, we played a really cool hometown show which has been a great success as it was a sold out gig. We are really trying to play as much as we can and planning some small tour abroad Europe.

8- Are there any upcoming shows or tours you can tell us about?

We will play some local festivals during the summer you can check the updated list on our social network profiles.

9- Thanks for your participation. Finally, what is the best way to get a hold of the group just in case someone wants to book the band? Any final words?
