Najing Exclusive interview

1- Hello and welcome to Metal Music Midwest. Our readers are excited to get to know you and your band. Could you give us a brief description of the group?

Where is the band from?

HI! we Najing are an Italian instrumental post-metal trio from (Pisa)(Tuscany) composed by Marco Neri (bass) Marco Di Chiara (drums) and Andrea Turini (guitar) born in the summer of 2021.

2- Najing is the band's full album. How long did it take to compose and record?

We composed all the songs in about 6 months and then recorded them live in April 2022 at Studio Saffa666 in Fucecchio (Italy) with the sound engineer Delio Nanni.

3- What musical influences inspire the band's compositions?

We have various influences such as: Neurosis, Russian Circles, Isis, Cult Of Luna, Pelican and then move on to Motorpsycho, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Mogwai.

4- Can you tell us how did the members all meet?

Initially we wrote to each other via social media Marco (bass) and Marco (drums) sharing a strong passion for the same musical genres. Shortly after we contacted Andrea (guitarist) to set up a rehearsal.

5- The new album title is "Najing". Tell us the details about the content and a more in-depth meaning to this title?

Our self-titled album "Najing" is a dark vision of the uneasy feelings we perceive every day, a dreamlike and at the same time horrific journey that shakes the mind of the listener. "Najing" is a misspelling of the Chinese city Nanjing. The city is tragically well known for the monstrous atrocities committed by the Japanese army just before the beginning of WWII, with hundreds of thousands of deaths, tortures and other utter abominations. We did not take it for shocking people but more like a reminder of how disgusting and despicable humanity can be.

6- Are the current members of Najing part of another band or project? Or is everyone dedicated solely to the group? How do you maintain a good balance working together?

We dedicate ourselves exclusively to this project, personally to maintain a good balance we listen to the opinions, perplexities and ideas that come to mind by addressing them with passion and respect. We believe that this is the right way forward to grow and improve.

7- Have you performed any shows in your area? If so, how receptive and supportive are the people of your music?

Yes! For now we have done 3 gigs across Italy, in our area the people who love this genre are very active and curious luckily. However, we believe that it is not a genre accessible to too many people, despite the feedback from our live shows there are been really good.

8- Are there any upcoming shows or tours you can tell us about?

Currently, we have a gig in Florence and another one in Milan this summer  and more to be added soon

9- Thanks for your participation. Finally, what is the best way to get a hold of the group just in case someone wants to book or promote the band?

Any final words?

Thank you for the opportunity to let us know! In our opinion, the best way is to play live. Also promoting our songs on social networks in order to reach as many people as possible. Lastly, we recommend readers to listen to our album and let us know what you think about it! Always be curious about underground bands there are many hidden gems in this sea.
