Leaden Fumes interview in depth view of their latest release Kanashibari

1- Hello and welcome to Metal Music Midwest. Our readers are excited to get to know you and your band. Could you give us a brief description of the group? Where is the band from?

Leaden Fumes comprises three talented musicians hailing from Basel, Switzerland. Our music is heavy and slow, with a touch of experimentation. As a trio, we believe we can best express the kind of music we create. Despite our seriousness towards music, we enjoy bending the rules of genres. Humor plays a crucial role in both our music and lyrics.

2- "Kanashibari" is the band's latest album. How long did it take to compose and record?

It's been about a year since we started working on new songs while waiting for our first album to be pressed. We've been fortunate enough to have the inspiration and creativity to keep the music flowing.

3- What musical influences inspire the band's compositions?

I'm not sure. I don't really think about it that way. Our musical tastes differ, so when we collaborate on a new song, we tend to influence each other more.

4- Can you tell us how did the members all meet?

We came together out of necessity. The guitarist and bass player were already collaborating before joining Leaden Fumes. The drummer was naturally drawn to our music, and it was an instant connection.

5- The new album title is "Kanashibari". Tell us the details about the content and a more in-depth meaning to this title?

Kanashibari is a Japanese term that refers to a demon that interferes with your breathing while you sleep. Our band chose this name as one of our members has experienced this phenomenon multiple times. The term also means "metal bound," which is a fitting description for our style of crushing doom metal on this album. We aimed to create diverse music for this release, as we believe that listening to repetitive sounds can be quite tedious.

6- Are the current members of this band part of another band or project? Or is everyone dedicated solely to the group? How do you maintain a good balance working together?

The drummer performs in Echolot, and the bass player has a solo project called B°Tong where he creates unique soundscapes. Additionally, he is part of the ambient duo Bu.d.d.A. As for the guitarist, their current endeavors remain a mystery.

7- Have you performed any shows in your area? If so, how receptive and supportive are the people of your music?

We perform occasional shows in our locality, and it appears that people enjoy our music. If they didn't, they wouldn't keep coming back for more and purchasing our albums.

8- Are there any upcoming shows or tours you can tell us about?

We are thrilled to announce that our upcoming show will feature The Obsessed. We can't wait!

9- Thanks for your participation. Finally, what is the best way to get a hold of the group just in case someone wants to book or promote the band? Any final words?
