Exclusive Interview Fall of Carthage

1- Hello and welcome to Metal Music Midwest, first off, thanks for taking the time to do the interview, could you give our readers a brief description of the group? Where is the band from?

Sascha: Fall Of Carthage is a german groove-metal band. That tag fits the most I believe. We are no fans of musical borders, putting our passion for music first, trying not to think about genres and trends. We experiment a lot, if it sounds and feels good we’re in.

2- "Drawn Into Madness" is the band's fourth album, how long did it take to write?

Sascha: From the first idea to the final master, i think about 10 months or so. Not continuously though. Arkadius and I worked on the songs whenever possible.

3- What musical influence inspires the bands compositions?

Sascha: This question comes a lot. We have many different influences not only coming from metal bands but all kinds of music and they change over the time as well. We’re open for everything that is inspiring.

4- The group started in 2014, can you tells us how did you all meet?

Sascha: Arkadius wrote some songs that felt great but didn’t fit in for Suidakra. So he thought about starting FOC as a project. Sascha was brought into the game by Martin who Arkadius knew from his recording studio. It soon started to feel way better than “just a project” and we created our first 3 albums in a short time.

5- The new album title is "Drawn Into Madness", can you give us details about the content and more in depth meaning to this title?

Sascha: The album title, as well as a few parts in the lyrics, are a reference to Shakespeare's Hamlet (Act I, Scene IV). Also, "Drawn" is supposed to be a pun because of the painted artwork. Kirsten Schüßler, a close friend of the band, has made super awesome abstract artwork especially for this album.

6- Each member of this project is part of another band, how do you maintain a good balance working together?

Sascha: Working together is always very inspiring for Arkadius and me. I did some guest vocals for actually all of his other bands as well: Suidakra, Dragonbreed, Realms Of Odoric. There is no conflict or rivalry.

Btw, I am not a member of another band atm, unless you mean Call Of Fartage, which is with Arkadius.

7- Have you performed any shows in your area? if so, how receptive and supportive are the people to your music?

Sascha: We played a couple of gigs in Germany for the first albums, but haven’t  done any live performance lately.

8- Are there any upcoming shows or tours you can tell us about?

No, atm there are no planned live gigs.

9- Thanks for your participation, finally, what is the best way to get a hold of the band, in case someone wants to book or promote the band? Any final words?
