Wizzerd exclusive interview

To my readers please give a warm welcome to Wizzerd!!

1- Hello and welcome to Metal Music Midwest, first off, thanks for taking the time to do the interview, could you give our readers a brief description of the group? Where is the band from?

Thanks for having us! We are a heavy rock’n’roll band from Kalispell, Montana. We have been described as boogie doom and magick rock before, which are good descriptors of the sound.

2- "Space‽: Issue No.001" is the band's 3rd full album, how long did it take to write?

The album has been mostly totally written since around 2018. We began writing it a few years before that, then focused on our other material and touring before recording these songs. With a few touches and changes in the studio, we really spent about six or seven years on crafting these songs to their fullest potential.

3- What musical influence inspires the bands compositions?

We take influence from a wide variety of music from all genres and eras. For "Space‽: Issue No.001" we drew heavily from desert rock/prog bands such as Truckfighters, Kyuss, etc, but also took a lot of influence from 70s funk music such as Funkadelic, Betty Davis, Boney M, stuff like that.

4- The group started in 2014, can you tells us how did you all meet?

We all met in high school and started hanging out and jamming together all the time, and eventually, Wizzerd was formed.

5- The new album title is "Space‽: Issue No.001", can you give us details about the content and more in depth meaning to this title?

The album is a loose concept album based on the ideas from our previous work, but set in a space western style universe. The songs themselves are mostly character portraits, but there is an overarching story of good and evil within the concept, surrounded by muscle cars, giant robot spiders, mutant aliens and all kinds of things. Originally we were just going to call the album "Space‽", but we wanted the concept to feel like a classic comic book, hence the “Issue No.001".

6- Each member of this project is part of another band, how do you maintain a good balance working together?

All our bands are pretty incestuous, almost all of our other projects are just different formations of the members of Wizzerd, so it makes it easy with scheduling and sharing a rehearsal space.

7- Have you performed any shows in your area? if so, how receptive and supportive are the people to your music?

We’ve been performing around our hometown since we started and have always received great support from our local scene. We’ve been touring the US regularly for a number of years as well and been treated mostly good by everyone we have come across. We pride ourselves on our live show; its a goal of ours to get people moving and excited, so whenever we do that we are happy.

8- Are there any upcoming shows or tours you can tell us about?
