Apostate - Time Of Terror

Apostate is a five piece band from Ukraine. Members are Alexander Kostko (Bass), Bohdan Kozub (Vocals), Nikita Holovin (Drums), Vlad Filimon (Guitar), Yuriy Savchuk (Guitar). Genre described as death doom metal.

Time Of Terror is the bands second album released on March second 2015 under Ferrrum Records. It has been five years in the making and its massive. The release consist of five tracks and is close to an hour long. The doom roots are clearly planted in the ground, no doubt about it. One of the things that is catching to my ears is the sense of melody that carries from passage to passage even through the more gritty and aggressive compositions. The song "Pale Reflection" resonates with me with its dark malevolent intro and demonic growls. The deep tones and crushing chords can be felt through the speakers. Solar Misconception is another notable track, many dissonant chords and intense lyrics come thru as thunderous and destructive. The production of this album is very good, all the instruments are pronounced and guitars have good distortion and tone. Consider the low tuning, everything has a good balance.

Final thoughts, the music is powerful and their fans will not be disappointed. The music creates dark passages and is heavy enough to bring walls down. I recommended for fans of Neurosis, The Lumberjack Feedback, Regurgitating Oblivion and Evoken. ~Artemortifica
