Aldaaron exclusive interview
1- Hello and welcome to Metal Music Midwest, first off, thanks for taking the time to do the interview, could you give our readers a brief description of the group? Where is the band from?
Hello and thanks for your interest. Aldaaron came to light in the year 2004 in the obscure forests of the french Alps.
We are drawing our inspiration from the mysticism of nature and our music is the union of furious epic melodies and icy atmospheric parts.
The lyrics express the solitude, sadness and might that some can feel standing alone on a mountaintop or walking by night in a winter forest, communing with the spirit of the age-old woods and the eternally snow-covered summits.
Aldaaron is coming back after a long 10 years hiatus. Wen somehow naturally went into a dormant phase after Suprême Silence (2012), when the different members dispersed geographically according to life circumstances.
As the songwriter, for several years I composed little touches here and there but without succeeding in entering the state of flow required to achieve the desired result. At the end of 2021, without knowing exactly why, I started composing again on a regular basis and was able to produce the new album in about 6 months. I guess I finally found enough motivation to adapt to this situation, although I'm not sure where that motivation came from.
3- What musical influence inspires the band’s compositions?
My main influences are classic bands from the 90's and early 2000's : Immortal, early Dimmu, Windir, Dark Funeral, Dissection, Summoning, Satyricon, Marduk, as well as some a bit lesser known bands like Enthroned, Dawn, Cirith Gorgor, Sargeist, Seth, Belenos, Frozen Shadows and I certainly forget some.
4- The group started in 2004, can you tell us how did you all meet?
It was a gradual process. I first found our 1st drummer thanks I think to an advertisement that I had put in a music store. It was around 2002. We had been rehearsing together for maybe a year and then we heard about lead guitarist Voldr who was looking to play in a BM band and who we decided to join. Due to a lack of involvement of the 1st drummer I went to find a new drummer in the person of Mörkk, who is a fantastic drummer! This was the band's basis for the next 3 recordings. As far as bass players are concerned, we have never been able to have them in a stable way.
5- The new album title is Arcane Mountain Cult, can you give us details about the content and more in-depth meaning of this title?
The artwork and album title speak of a secret, hidden and forgotten religious order, whose members worship a mountain. I won't give more information so that the listeners can be free to project their own interpretation.
6- Each member of this project is part of another band, how do you maintain a good balance working together?
Aldaaron is currently basically a 1-man-band as I composed and performed all the music and lyrics, as well as the production, with the exception of a few great guitar solos from longtime friend and Aldaaron member Voldr who also helped me by giving his in depth evaluation of each song.
7- Have you performed any shows in your area? if so, how receptive and supportive are the people to your music?
We did play several local shows 10-15 years ago. As our music is pretty fast and filled with a lot of blast beats, it is not easy to have a good live sound, especially at the time. The reception was usually excellent when the quality of the sound was at least correct.
8- Are there any upcoming shows or tours you can tell us about?
As I stated before, Aldaaron is currently basically a 1-man-band so no shows planned in the near future.
9- Thanks for your participation, finally, what is the best way to get a hold of the band, in case someone wants to book or promote the band?
The best is to contact us through our official website www.aldaaron.com
Any final words?
