Pasung is BELDAM's second release on Horror Pain Gore Death Productions and their first with new vocalist/lyricist Randall Guidry. The band recently relocated to Seattle, continuing their vision to play skull-crushing, soul-wrenching, paint-peeling Sludge with blackened touches. With influences ranging from Sleep, EyeHateGod, Graves At Sea, The Melvins and Black Sabbath, BELDAM combines a massive wall of guitars, thickened bass tones, bone-rattling drums and harsh vocals featuring lyrics building on the themes of death and despair. Pasung clocks in at 50 minutes of pure, unadulterated American Sludge. Pasung was recorded at The Bomb Shelter in Nashville, TN, April 5-7, with additional tracking on August 31 and September 1, 2017. Caelestia is a six piece band consisting of  Nikos Palivos - Bass, Panos Varvaropoulos - Guitars, Dimitra Vintsou -Vocals, Vassilis Thomas - Guitars, Aranel - Bass, Vangelis Evangelou - Guitars. The melodies and progressive riffs coming from this release are epic. The production is top notch. I would say one of my favorite things from this album are the powerful vocals coming from Dimitra Vintsou, she has incredible range and is able to captivate my senses in nearly every song. Beyond the melodies, you can hear some heavy and crushing passages as well. For example the track "Secret Rite" (feat Markus Freiwald - SODOM) is a powerful and memorable tune with excellent solos and devastating drums. The unheralded classic album from Sweden's legendary death metal history is highlighted in full glory here and more. Remastered by none other than Dan Swano, this album is presented for the first time on official vinyl format for the die-hard maniacs. This band garnered a cult following and it is easy to see why - the music has astonishing heaviness coupled with massive grooves akin to the US death metal bands as well. This is far removed from the typical Swedish death metal sound and yet enriches the image by doing more, way more than most other bands during that time without diminishing the balls-out heaviness.
