Liquid Earth exclusive interview and new release Teufelskreis

1-Hello and welcome to Metal Music Midwest, first off, thanks for taking the time to do the interview, could you give our readers a brief description of the group? Where is the band from?

In 2015 Liquid Earth was born in a shipping-container on the outskirts of Vienna. The instrumental trio takes you on a journey through psychedelic soundscapes and heavy riffs. So grab a beer and prepare for take-off!

After the heavy-psych band released their self-produced debut-album "Slow Grown" in 2018, their single "Teufelsmusik" was released on December the 4th 2020 via "Electric Fire Records".

On October the 21st 2022 their second album “Teufelskreis” was released.

2- “Teufelskreis” is the band's new album, how long did it take to write?

It took quite some time. From the first song we started writing and the time we held the LP in our hands it took almost 3 long years. A lot of things like the production of our vinyls were delayed due to the pandemic.

3- What musical influence inspires the bands compositions?

We’re influenced by a lot of different styles of music and bands. The three of us come from diverse musical backgrounds. Our bass player Shami listens a lot to bands like Om and Tool. While our drummer Sebastian is a huge metal fan and is inspired by bands like Lamb of God and Iron Maiden, Thomas our guitarist is inspired by bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.

4- The group started in 2015, can you tells us how did you all meet?

We three learned our instruments already at a young age, but it all started as a school band during our school days (we all went to the same school). We had different bands but at one point we started jamming together and the three of us had a special musically connection. Since then, we’ve made music together.

5- The album title is “Teufelskreis”, can you give us details about the content and more in depth meaning to this title?

“Teufelskreis” is german for vicious circle and describes a never-ending repetitive misery that is very hard to escape from. Just like the feeling when a doom riff goes on and on and never appears to stop. In addition to that many song titles refer to our weakness for beer (especially Ottakringer).

6- Each member of this project is part of another band? How do you maintain a good balance working together?

Only our guitarist has another band called “Inspector Deniz and the Ding Dongs”. We three know each other for almost twenty years and we’ve been through a lot of ups and downs. There is not much that can tear us apart because of our good friendship.

7- Have you performed any shows in your area? if so, how receptive and supportive are the people to your music?

There’s an awesome stoner/psych/doom scene in Vienna with a lot of other great bands and over the years we got to know a lot of interesting people. We are grateful to be part of this unique scene, because there’s a lot of support among the different bands and genres.

8- Are there any upcoming shows or tours you can tell us about?

At the moment we’ve two upcoming shows in Vienna at Arena and Kramladen. We’re also planning to play at a few festivals in Austria this summer and we also hope to plan a small tour in the near future.

9- Thanks for your participation, finally, what is the best way to get a hold of the band, in case someone wants to book or promote the band? Any final words?

The best way to keep in touch with us is to follow our social medias like Instagram, Facebook or Bandcamp. You can also listen to our knew album on Spotify and other music platforms. We’re always looking for gigs, so don’t be shy and get in touch with us for live shows!

Thank you for having us, it’s always a pleasure!
