Asphagor exclusive interview The album "Pyrogenesis"

1-Hello and welcome to Metal Music Midwest, first off, thanks for taking the time to do the interview, could you give our readers a brief description of the band? Where is it from?

We are an extreme metal band from Tyrol, Austria, currently promoting our latest and fourth full length album Pyrogenesis, which is out now through MDD records.

2- “Pyrogenesis” is your upcoming LP, how long did it take to compose it?

There is no simple answer, because Pyrogenesis contains material and ideas, which have been around for years. However, the most consolidated effort of composing and recording took place between 2019 and 2021.

3- What musical influences inspired the songwriting?

All songwriters in the band share a passion for heavy guitar-based music but that’s about it as far as common denominators in our influences go. We have a very divers situation in the band, which I think is an advantage and you can hear it too. There are no specific influences one could point to and say: that’s what we were after.

4- When the band started? Can you tells us more?

Asphagor has been active since roughly 2007. We started out as a pure black metal band but have since developed our own identity.

5- The album title is “Pyrogenesis”, can you give us details about the content and more in depth meaning to this title?

The title of the album is leaning towards the poem “Prometheus” by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and describes the birth from flame, the rise to power and potential consequences it brings with it, emphasizing the destructive and creative potential this force may bear.

6- Have you performed any shows in your area? If so, how receptive and supportive are the people to your music?

Since the release we did one show to kick things off in our home area. The reception was overwhelmingly positive which got us stoked for the upcoming tour.

7- Are there any upcoming shows or tours you can tell us about?

Yes, we are embarking on a tour across Europe with Dark Fortress and The Spirit. This will be Dark Fortress’ farewell tour, which makes being a part of it a special honor for us.

8- Thanks for your participation, finally, what is the best way to get a hold of the band, in case someone wants to book or promote you? Any final words?

Thank YOU. We are really excited to carry our music to new countries and regions so please don’t hesitate to ask – we’ll take our bus almost anywhere and are not scared of airplanes.
