Void Cruiser interview and talks about the new release Call To The Void
1- Hello and welcome to Metal Music News and Interviews. Our readers are excited to get to know you and your band. Could you give us a description of the group? Where is the band from?
Greetings! We are Void Cruiser, an alternative heavy rock band from Helsinki, Finland. Void Cruiser was founded in 2011 and developed its sound through stoner rock, grunge, and heavy rock towards more post-rockish, and shoegaze sound in recent years.
2- "Call of The Void" is the band's third full album. How long did it take to compose and record?
Well, altogether it took around four years. We released our previous album “Wayfarer” in 2017 and started to compose the album pretty soon after that. A lot was going on in members’ lives and we reorganized the group by getting a new member so it took time to get ourselves together. The actual recording session took only several days.
3- What musical influences inspire the band's compositions?
There are so many and they have changed a bit during the 10+ years we’ve been working with the band. If a sort of common ground needs to be found, then maybe the grunge, doom. and desert rock scenes have been quite strong influences on our sound. We’ve always been keen on the melancholic atmosphere, groovy beats, and dynamic contrasts between heavy sound walls and mellow tunes.
4- The group started in 2011. Can you tell us how did the members all meet?
We’ve all known each other more or less since the high school years. Some of us had also played together in other bands.
5- The new album title is Call of The Void. Tell us the details about the content and a more in-depth meaning to this title?
It is about finding hope through dread in the looming entity called existence. It speaks of love and the deep sadness and relief that coexist with letting go when transcending oneself into infinity.
6- Are the current members of this band part of another band or project? Or is everyone dedicated solely to the group? How do you maintain a good balance working together?
There are some projects but the main focus is on Void Cruiser.
7- Have you performed any shows in your area? If so, how receptive and supportive are the people of your music?
Yes, plenty. Depends a bit on the event, but usually at least some people enjoy their asses off and some not so much. We are maybe some sort of outcasts in many genre-related events due to our cross-over approach to music.
8- Are there any upcoming shows or tours you can tell us about?
Now we are focusing on composing the next album so no shows coming at the moment, but surely a bit later.
9- Thanks for your participation. Finally, what is the best way to get a hold of the group just in case someone wants to book or promote the band?
You should book us by voidcruiser1@gmail.com and check our Bandcamp page! be sure also to follow us on Instagram (@void_cruiser) and Facebook!
10- Any final words?
Cheers, and take care!
