Exclusive interview with band Confession

1- Hello and welcome to Metal Music Midwest, first off, thanks for taking the time to do the interview, could you give our readers a brief description of the group? Where is the band from?

Hi, thank you for an interest in our band and debut album. The group comes from south Poland, there are only two members at the moment, but hopefully a full line up will be formed very soon.

2- Coloured by the Red Flames of Fire is the band's debut full album, how long did it take to write?

It took us over one year to compose all of the songs. On some of them we spent much time, some songs like “Confession” were created very quickly. It took us only five days to record the album in a studio, additional time was spent for mixing.

3- What musical influence inspires the bands compositions?

Metal music in general, old and modern black/death metal bands like Vader, Emperor, Mayhem, Samael and many others. There is also some heavy/thrash stuff we like – for instance: Sepultura, Metallica. There are small influences from electronic as well as classical music – for instance Alfred Schnitke.

4- The group started in 2022(?), can you tell us how did you all meet?

We met in 2020 in our working place. From the first minute we felt that we are two persons perfectly understanding each other – both from musical and business point of view. We talked a little bit about our vision and started some rehearsals immediately. Of course, the idea of the band and word “Confession” as a name for it is much older than last two year, but 2020 is the year when we started to do it seriously.

5- The album title is Coloured by the Red Flames of Fire, can you give us details about the content and more in depth meaning to this title?

Coloured by the Red Flames of Fire” means simply - burnt, destroyed by the fire.

Imagine war, ruined villages, annihilation – that is exactly what the title of the album is about. It’s about war and fire as a destructive way used by humanity to “produce” death and suffering. Of course the word “fire” is used both in a direct way – fire as a state of aggregation as well as metaphor - symbol of destruction. It is also shown on the cover of our album – the paint “Triumph of Death” shows exactly the content of the album as well as the meaning of the title song.

But our lyrics are not only about war and annihilation – there is much about transformation between life and death, life in the aftermath. There are some historical motives as well.

6- Each member of this project is part of another band, how do you maintain a good balance working together?

No, we aren’t part of any other bands at the moment, so Confession is a priority for us. Of course we have to balance between band activity and our private life – as every other band and band member. That’s not easy, but we mix it somehow. Cooperation between band members is currently very good and I am sure it will stay as it is for the future – there is a common path and imagination both about music we create as well as our future as a band.

7- Have you performed any shows in your area? if so, how receptive and supportive are the people to your music?

We didn’t played any gigs yet, but we are preparing intensively to play some gigs in the nearest future. Without a full lineup it isn’t possible to play live and it’s not an easy thing to find suitable members for the band. Hopefully the situation will change very soon.

8- Are there any upcoming shows or tours you can tell us about?

We can’t provide any dates yet but our goal is to get signed and start to play live as soon as possible. We would like to make some live performances or even tours this winter or lately spring next year.

9- Thanks for your participation, finally, what is the best way to get a hold of the band, in case someone wants to book or promote the band?

Our facebook page: facebook.com/ConfessionBand, definitely that’s the best way to find news about our activity.

Any final words?

I would like to thank you guys for an interest in our band and this interview.

Stay strong and open minded. Greetings to all Confession listeners. See you on tour in the future!
