Krilloan Exclusive Interview

To my readers plese give a warm welcome to the music of Krilloan

Hello and welcome to Metal Music Midwest, first off, thanks for taking the time to do the interview, could you give our readers a brief description of the group?

Where is the band from?

Hello! Its we who should thank you. We are Krilloan and we play high-octane, full speed, power metal - straight from the heart! Our sound is rooted in the harder type of powermetal of the ninties based on guitars rather than keyboards. The group is a international one and its based around me (Klas Holmgren) in Sweden. I write the basic structures for the songs and play the rhythm guitars. Then we have Steve Brockmann in Germany that handles the lead guitars, Alex VanTrue in Portugal on vocals, Marco Toba in Argentina that plays bass and then David Lanas from Ecuador on drums. So you can say that we are everywhere 😊

2- "Stories Of Times Forgotten" is the band's first release, a  EP with 5 tracks.  How long did it take to write?

I started out in 2020 with this project and the EP was never meant to be. However, pieces fell into place and one thing lead to another. We worked on and off for about a year until it was finally released in May 2021.

3- What musical influence inspires the bands compositions?

The sound is based in the power/speed metal from back in the day. Early Blind Guardian and early Helloween, the first Hammerfall albums but also Riot and Scanner.

4- The group started in (2020), can you tells us how did you all meet?

We have not meet in person, only online 😊 The only people in the group that has actually meet is me and Steve and we have been friends for about 20 years since we meet at Sweden Rock Festival a wet night. Since then we joked about starting a band together every time we meet and when I decided to start Krilloan he was the first person I thought of.

5- The new album title is (Empire Rising), can you give us details about the content and more in depth meaning to this title?

The title is taken from the title track on our first full length album and is inspired by the storys of Elric Of Melniboné by Michael Moorcock. Awesome story’s!  When I wrote the track it felt lite a good album title. It also sounds very metal!

6- Each member of this project is part of another band, how do you maintain a good balance working together?

It works really well. Everyone has their own thing and Krilloan is done when people have the time basically. We usually do one song at the time and therefore things takes a lot of time, haha! I write the basic structures and record everything the way I hear it in my head. Then I send it to the other guys and they have free hands to do what THEY  hear in their heads and the result is a melting pot of everyone’s input.

7- Have you performed any shows in your area? if so, how receptive and supportive are the people to your music?

No, since we all live in different parts of the world we have never performed any shows.

8- Are there any upcoming shows or tours you can tell us about?

At the moment no, because of the above reason. We joked about playing some gigs on a boat out in the Atlantic Ocean because that would be in the middle from everyone but we will see about that.

9- Thanks for your participation, finally, what is the best way to get a hold of the band, in case someone wants to book or promote the band?

Easiest way to get a hold of us is through our Facebook and Instagram page. We are online 24/7!
