To my readers please give a warm welcome to the band Leslie Ripp

1- Hello and welcome to Metal Music Midwest, first off, thanks for taking the time to do the interview, could you give our readers a brief description of the group?

Leslie Ripp here, and thanks for this opportunity. Although I'm probably more known for being the guitarist for the metal band Rat Attack, back in 1983, I've long since gone solo. The music that I produce now, is strictly instrumental rock/metal guitar showcase type stuff like Satriani, or Vai. Having the luxury of also being a multi-instrumentalist, I'm able to record everything myself in the comfort of my home studio.

Where is the band from? 

I have always lived and worked out of my hometown, Honolulu, Hawaii and still do, to this day.

2- "The Riddle of Steel" is your most recent full album; how long did it take to write?

Consisting of ten original tracks, I'd say it took around four months to compose all the parts, and then another three for the recording, mixing, and mastering.

3- What musical influence inspires your compositions?

My musical influences and inspirations have included rock, metal, and blues, artists by the likes of, Michael Schenker, Ritchie Blackmore, Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Jimmy page, and Carlos Santana. 

4- The new album title is "The Riddle of Steel", can you give us details about the content and more in depth meaning to this title?

The album was actually inspired by one of my favorite adventure/fantasy films, "Conan the Barbarian". If you have seen the 1982 film version, you may notice that some of the track titles are taken from memorable quotes or features from the film, as is the title.

5- Have you performed any shows in your area? if so, how receptive and supportive are the people to your music?

Being a solo studio musician, I don't have the means to perform my solo projects live, although I have made a living playing in club cover bands back in the day.
