Exclusive interview with HILD

Hild - Violent, Swedish Metal

1- Hello and welcome to Metal Music Midwest, first off, thanks for taking the time to do the interview, could you give our readers a brief description of the group?
Where is the band from?

Hild - Thank you for your interest! HILD is a thrash oriented band centered around the valkyries of Nordic myth.
Each song a channeling of their respective traits and energies. Eventually the theme will broaden obviously, there are not all too many valkyries left to sing about haha! It's perfectly fine listening to it as just high energy metal band to get your blood going. But it is based on my personal beliefs and spiritual practices.
There is more to it to anyone interested to find out.
Some other musical influences than thrash naturally came seeping in along the work.
We just call it by the slogan "Violent Swedish Metal".
So, obviously, we are from Sweden!

2- ValFreiya is the band's first full album, how long did it take to write?

HILD - HILD ValFreiya took pretty much exactly four weeks to write, record and produce. Effective working time 2 labor weeks.
I worked under the motto that no song be longer than 2:30 and take more than 9 hours to from first inspirational spark to finished product. I intend to keep this method as long as it is fruitful.
The full album is planned for release in autumn. There are now 3 double singles out digitally.

3- What musical influence inspires the bands compositions?

I get inspired from within and get alot of that famous "divine inspiration" too luckily haha!
Inspiration is practically never an issue. But hmmmm... To mention some acts:
Slayer (obviously), then maybe some Aura Noir and early Raised Fist and Sepultura.

4- The group started in 2021, can you tells us how did you all meet?

It started in late summer/early fall of 2021 as a solo project after a divine assignment and homework from my Goddess Freja.
As it progressed and the album was written I started feeling I wanted to take it live and have a full line-up.
As of June 4th we are a full line-up which will be presented soon. I handpicked the drummer and guitarist, knowing they were the right ones. Knew them both well from before and was very happy to have them accept and join. Our bass player was acquired through an ad and is also a perfect fit. On his response I knew immediately he was the right choice.
We just met all together for the first time a few days ago and rehearsed. I could not be more pleased and happy with the outcome!

5- The new album title is ValFreiya, can you give us details about the content and more in depth meaning to this title?

It´s called ValFreiya. After Freja as a death and war goddess and leader of the valkyries. Twelve songs, twelve valkyries.
It is centered around strife and battle and how the traits of these beings can be experienced and applied to your personal battles as well as actual battle on the fields of death. Living on the edge of existence. It´s a violent and extrovert expression but contains a lot of esoteric and inner stuff as well.

6- Each member of this project is part of another band, how do you maintain a good balance working together?

We are all VERY much devoted to making HILD great and on the same level, it´s quite awesome I tell you.
We made clear from the get-go that this is an absolute requirement but also that there shall be no active hindrance
for our other bands. We can all prioritize both. If a clash rises we'll just deal with it, no problems.

7- Have you performed any shows in your area? if so, how receptive and supportive are the people to your music?

Our first confirmed show is on October 7th. The event is called Slaktmånad and takes place in my hometown Hultsfred, Sweden.
An annual 2-day festival in-door festival held in high regard by visitors and bands alike! Rightfully so!
It's a great event. And we'll make damn sure the audience receives our energy and gets drawn in by it!

8- Are there any upcoming shows or tours you can tell us about?

We are looking into more shows than the above-mentioned for sure! Gonna have to get back on you with dates etc.
But we are definitely looking to play as much as possible and get out there. Taking the violence to the stage!

9- Thanks for your participation, finally, what is the best way to get a hold of the band, in case someone wants to book or promote the band?
Any final words?

Thanks for having me! Best way is email: hildsweden@gmail.com, but just writing private on social media works too.
Final words for today: Liberate yourself and thrash around in abandon! Embrace your struggles as challenges and have fun.
Don´t worry too much, enjoy the seasons and the landscapes!
