Mud Spencer exclusive interview

Greetings and a warm welcome to Metal Music News and Interviews. Our readers are eagerly looking forward to getting acquainted with you and your band. Would you kindly provide us with a concise description of your group? Could you please tell me the origin of the band? 

The band is from Cirebon West Java Indonesia

2- Kliwon is the band's second full album. How long did it take to compose and record? 

The band's second album, Mud Spencer Kliwon, took nearly a year to compose and record.

3- What musical influences inspire the band's compositions?

Various musical influences, from 1968-1973 heavy rock area to modern heavy doom psychedelia going through Eastern ethnic music from Ethiopia to Indonesia.

4 - The group started in 2019. Can you tell us how did the members all meet?

The group started in 2019, I’m alone.

5 - Can you provide us with more information about the new album "Kliwon"? Specifically, can you elaborate on its content and the deeper meaning behind the title?

The title is "Kliwon" or "Malam Jumaat Kliwon" in Indonesia, which occurs on the Friday when the Javanese weekday "Kliwon" falls. It is believed to be a spooky night by many Indonesians, but it is also considered a propitious occasion for self-reflection, contemplation, and connecting with the spiritual world.

6- Are the current members of Mud Spencer part of another band or project? Or is everyone dedicated solely to the group? How do you maintain a good balance working together?

I have 2 other “bands” or project, one “heavy trash punk sixties” influenced by early 60s sounds, and one other like “experimental space funk and grooves”. I organize myself according to the desire of the moment.

7- Have you performed any shows in your area? If so, how receptive and supportive are the people of your music?

No shows, as I don’t find musicians for that style in that area, places to perform and audience are not suitable for that kind of music.

8- Are there any upcoming shows or tours you can tell us about?

I usually sleep in my bed at night, and I only use an air conditioner in the bedrooms.
